Comments about EMG-MMTW Music Man Twin Active Bass Pickup:
Retired now, but, Owned 1-Fender Jazz Bass, 3-precisions, and two MM-Stingrays. This thing can make my vintage OLB (MM wannabe) sound like I always wanted my 1966 Jazz Bass to sound like, and with a push of the knob (or pull: your choice in set-up), it sounds BETTER and CLEANER than any of my two 1970's MM Stingrays: for real!
I hate messin' with electronics (I know next to nothing) and the plug-in connections (and instructions) were a breeze, even for me! Lotsa fun! Thanx, EMG, Thanx!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Comments about EMG-MMTW Music Man Twin Active Bass Pickup:
I give the MMTW a perfect 10 because everything about it is absolutely perfect. It has been in this bass since 2006 and still sounds perfect. even the control pot is still both silent and effective in operation. I am seriously considering installing it in all my other basses as it is the exact tone i have been searching for for over 20 years!
This is the pickup in my Custom Shop fretless built by Ray Simonetti. It is absolutely the best sounding pickup i have ever heard. Even with older flatwound strings it manages to pull out the slightest of harmonics and still maintain a high degree of clarity with the lower range chords i use from time to time. Obviously there is a huge difference in tone between single and dual coil mode but a little less normal is the fact that it actually sounds like a single coil when its supposed to and not a degraded dual coil. The push pull switch serves as my volume and works silently even under heavy distortion or modulation effects.
This pickup is my number one choice over pups that cost way more.
Comments about EMG-MMTW Music Man Twin Active Bass Pickup:
So I have a 2001 stingray 3 band eq and a bartolini mmx, switched it out for the mmtw. Great pickup, awesome lows and midrange and even better treble. Note to stingray players, the push pull pot will not fit the cavity because of the volume circuit attached to the eq. My way around, swap everything for a emg bqs control (sweep/stacked mid, bass, treb). Playing through an ampeg svt 4pro and epifani 4x10 sounds purely awesome. The sound i've been searching for. The pull switch to single coil is quieter, but its half the coil so as to be expected. Still sounds like a killer bridge jazz pickup, and its on my stingray! yes! thank you emg!
