The "Twin" version of EMG's Music Man Bass replacement is known as the MMTW. Based on the triple coil 89 Guitar Pickup the TW is two pickups in one, single-coil and dual-coil, and both are totally noiseless. The TW uses EMG's ceramic and steel design for a nice transparent, not abusive high end along with a low-end that is just plain thunderous. Similar to the MM-CS, the TW has wide spread bobbins (1 inch) combined with a large coil surface area that gives the EMG-TW a most amazing bass tone. The single coil pickup is the same as EMG's Jazz Bass (J) Pickup, strong in mid-range. This is the perfect replacement pickup if you're planning on building a bass with only one pickup in the sweet spot. The MMTW comes with a push-pull pot that can be used as either a volume or tone control, or you can substitute a dpdt switch.

When using two of the TW Pickups in the same instrument it is not recommended that BT or BQ Systems be used. Each bass pickup requires a push/pull pot for switching from single coil to dual coil so the balance control included with the system can't be installed.

If you want to use the balance control, consider switching single/dual coil outputs with a DPDT toggle switch(s) instead.

Package Includes: EMG's exclusive Quik-Connect cable, prewired solid shaft volume/tone control set, output jack, battery clip set, and adjustment screws.

Comments about EMG-MMTW Music Man Twin Active Bass Pickup:

Bought the EMG-MMTW to upgrade the stock pickup in my BC Rich Virgin bass. Installation was simple, and in my case no mods were required. The difference in sound quality, note separation and tone were drastic. Clean, clear quality tone with punch that is easily distinguishable in the mix. Controls have smooth operation with no hot spots, making it easy to quickly dial in the exact volume and tone you are looking for. The split coil option with the included push-pull pot doubles this pickups versatility!

Comments about EMG-MMTW Music Man Twin Active Bass Pickup:

I installed this pickup kit in a cheap OLP stingray knockoff. The bass plays like a cheap bass but the pickup at least helps with the tone. I had to knock a little bit of wood out from the pocket to fit the battery. I also had to make the pickup opening in the pick-guard a little bigger to fit the EMG. The entire swap took 45min. I feel like it was worth the upgrade but really anything would have been an upgrade from the stock electronics. I mostly just use the bass for quick scratch track recording and practice sessions but the way the bass sounds now is pretty close to more expensive basses.

Comments about EMG-MMTW Music Man Twin Active Bass Pickup:

I ordered this, shipping was on time as expected. i read the description multiple times before ordering with intentions on installing to my MIM Jazz bass. just as described i wanted one pickup in the sweet spot, and this was it! i was fascinated with the push-pull option. i kept my jbass sound while getting that amazing MusicMan sound as well. i'd recommend this pickup to any bass player honestly. great tone, sound, sustain and punch. not to mention its a monster i love the MM profile. don't hesitate, it is worth the money.

Comments about EMG-MMTW Music Man Twin Active Bass Pickup:

Retired now, but, Owned 1-Fender Jazz Bass, 3-precisions, and two MM-Stingrays. This thing can make my vintage OLB (MM wannabe) sound like I always wanted my 1966 Jazz Bass to sound like, and with a push of the knob (or pull: your choice in set-up), it sounds BETTER and CLEANER than any of my two 1970's MM Stingrays: for real!
I hate messin' with electronics (I know next to nothing) and the plug-in connections (and instructions) were a breeze, even for me! Lotsa fun! Thanx, EMG, Thanx!
          HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

          Unbelievably Solid Tone

          By curtis willeby

Comments about EMG-MMTW Music Man Twin Active Bass Pickup:

I give the MMTW a perfect 10 because everything about it is absolutely perfect. It has been in this bass since 2006 and still sounds perfect. even the control pot is still both silent and effective in operation. I am seriously considering installing it in all my other basses as it is the exact tone i have been searching for for over 20 years!
This is the pickup in my Custom Shop fretless built by Ray Simonetti. It is absolutely the best sounding pickup i have ever heard. Even with older flatwound strings it manages to pull out the slightest of harmonics and still maintain a high degree of clarity with the lower range chords i use from time to time. Obviously there is a huge difference in tone between single and dual coil mode but a little less normal is the fact that it actually sounds like a single coil when its supposed to and not a degraded dual coil. The push pull switch serves as my volume and works silently even under heavy distortion or modulation effects.
This pickup is my number one choice over pups that cost way more.

          stingray on crack

          By LandryBass

          from Atlanta

Comments about EMG-MMTW Music Man Twin Active Bass Pickup:

So I have a 2001 stingray 3 band eq and a bartolini mmx, switched it out for the mmtw. Great pickup, awesome lows and midrange and even better treble. Note to stingray players, the push pull pot will not fit the cavity because of the volume circuit attached to the eq. My way around, swap everything for a emg bqs control (sweep/stacked mid, bass, treb). Playing through an ampeg svt 4pro and epifani 4x10 sounds purely awesome. The sound i've been searching for. The pull switch to single coil is quieter, but its half the coil so as to be expected. Still sounds like a killer bridge jazz pickup, and its on my stingray! yes! thank you emg!
