The H4A uses an Alnico 5 magnet for a pronounced mid-range and fat top end. With plenty of punchy tone, it's perfect in the bridge position for the player who wants to rock. The H4A is the perfect guitar pickup for blues or in combination with the H4 pickup, as is used on Epiphone's Zakk Wylde "Bullseye" Guitar. All HZ Pickups have EMG's exclusive 5-wire Quik-Connect™ output allowing any number of wiring combinations, and are fully shielded for a minimum of noise. String grounding is recommended to further decrease noise.

Really nice for the price, I threw these bad boys into an SG 310. Really hits the highs and lows well for old school metal, newer metal bands, not so great. You get that Zakk Wylde sound, really good.

Comments about EMG H4A Passive Humbucker:

This is a very good pickup for the money, it is a bit on the "hot" side but otherwise excellent, the sound is vastly improved over stock pickups, the sustain is a lot better and once you get everything set for it, they are also very quiet when you want them to be quiet.

Comments about EMG H4A Passive Humbucker:

Swapped a stock silvertone neck pickup with this, and my god does it scream, getting some nice early Judas priest lead tones from it and it makes me wet.
Insanely high output pickup perfect for that lead neck tone, I promise you wont be disappointed if your looking for a nice high gain pickup. Alnico version has depth unlike the ceramic. but its all subjective based on the persons personal taste.

              Amazing Pickup!

Comments about EMG H4A Passive Humbucker:

I have just replaced the bridge's stock humbucker from my stratocaster copy with this one and it basically blew my mind. Installation was very easy, and I'm not usually very good with electrical manipulation, but I just followed the wiring diagram, twisted the wires together and sealed everything tight with electrical tape. Quick, easy, and effective. My $200 guitar now sounds just as good as my LTD Alexi-600 which is worth around 1000$. I am very satisfied with this pickup and I am thinking of purchasing 2 more to replace the ESP LH-150's in the LTD M-100FM I have just ordered.

              SIMPLY AMAZING

Comments about EMG H4A Passive Humbucker:

Okay, I've tried quiet a bit of pickups to put in my Jackson Rhoads, from Seymour Duncan's Jb & Dimebucker, to an assortment of Dimarzio's. This pickup blows the other's out of the water. This pickup was built for metal. Don't waste your time on the regular Emg H4, Get the H4A, It's alot more clear, and the highs are great. This is definitely a Metal pickup. The cleans are suprisingly crystal clear. I pair it with an EMG H3 on the neck position, and with both pickups activated, it's very strat like.I also own an Emg 81 in my other guitar and this one supprisingly comes close in sound. Harmonics are amazing. If your into metal and looking for a passive Pickup, look no further.

I put this badass in the bridge position of my B.C. Rich to replace the stock pickups, and I have never heard such a brutal sound before. Awesome for heavy metal, sounds great clean. You wont regret getting this.

              Beautiful

Comments about EMG H4A Passive Humbucker:

This is an awesome pickup. It has a naturalvibrato and if you play it on overdrive settingsit sings just like a violin. This pickup is veryhot..and it wails. The H4 is great to pair withit. They both have equivalent harmonics..but thisH4A is just like its evil twin. The H4 is powerfuland gutsy. This pickup is powerful and gutsy as well...accept it has not been taught any manners. It is not polite like the H4 at all. If you likewhammy's and playing with effects in the bridge position..this is the one for you. It also does beautiful blues as well. When paired with the H4 in the neck you will truly hear your guitar change sounds when you change the selector switch. When played through a solid state is sounds awesome for that raspy garage sound. Thats what i love. When played through a tube..its clear as a bell..and if you get a digital effect amp such as a spider..you will be very pleased as these pickups are noise free. They sound slightly better than other pickups at about 15 watts..but at 100+ they really distance themselves by a mile.

Dropped this into the bridge of a Steinberger GU to replace the EMG "Select" that it originaly came with. This is one of the most crisp sounding pickups I've ever heard, sounds very bright. Great upgrade for a sub-par sounding guitar.
