EMG S-3 replacement for single coil Gibson stock

Comments about EMG S3 Hot Passive Hidden Poles Single Coil:

I replaced the single coil pickups on my 1977 Gibson Melody Maker with the EMG HZ S-3 pickup. It is perfect. I can tell a slight sound difference, the EMG pickup is a bit edgier, has more of a bite. Otherwise, the difference is there is NO HUM and I am free to move around without looking for the "sweet spot" to get max sound quality while playing. A great pickup, easy to install with just two wires and easy-to-follow instructions. However, one negative point is that it is slightly shorter than my original pickup and I had to fashion a bracket to support it for raising/lowering. This required cutting the mounting "ears" off the pickup. Still, a great replacement pickup - looks great! sounds great!
