Comments about Eminence Beta 10A PA Replacement Speaker:

I cannot understand why anyone would use the Beta-10 speaker in a bass guitar cabinet. It does not make good bass-note sounds even on a regular six-string guitar (at full amplifier volume).

Nonetheless, my reason for purchasing this speaker was to have an extension cabinet to add to the extra output on my Henriksen Jazzamp 110ER.

The extension jack on the Jazzamp is rated at the same wattage as the Jazzamp combo amp(which is the same make and model).

I have the speaker in an semi-opened-back 14Wx14Lx10D square cabinet, and it is 95% similar in sound to the closed-back Henriksen.

Jazziness sound is excellent (similar to Wes Montgomery or Russell Malone sound).

My guitar is an Ibanez Artcore AF55 equipped with Seymour Duncan Antiquity Pickups, and a .022K oil in paper capacitor.

Back to the first paragraph I wrote, the speaker cannot handle sub-bass notes (regardless of the cabinet that it is in). In my original-equipment Henriksen Jazzamp, the Beta-10 cannot handle bass in it either (at near-full volume), and the amp is only rated at 100 (or more) watts!

If you shelve off the bass on an amp & crank it up to full volume, the sound is excellent.

Comments about Eminence Beta 10A PA Replacement Speaker:

Awesome deal for the money. Very clean sound. No distortion.

I bought these to replace blown mains in a small PA with custom-made cabinets containing a small horn. Using a Yamaha 600W PA head I ran a heavy Switchfoot tune through them at max volume, 300W per side. No distortion. Slightly mid-rangey but I knocked the 1K EQ down a notch and they sounded great. As a test I increased the bass on the EQ. Still no distortion.

I play solo acoustic gigs and believe these will be perfect. They brighten up nicely with some EQ and seem to project well.

The ONLY negative comment that I have is that I noticed where the speaker components are glued, the glue is uneven. This could indicate issues in the manufacturing process and, if too thin in places, could cause an early grave for these.

    Bass Cabs

Comments about Eminence Beta 10A PA Replacement Speaker:

A little short on performance and quality housing, but overall great for a practice amp. Low on cost and can handle some heavy power too. The 4 wired at 4ohms sound even better. Miss a little on higher volumes with low's on a 5 string but can be a part of a nice practice cab.

    Sealed bass cab

Comments about Eminence Beta 10A PA Replacement Speaker:

I've installed a pair of these in a 2x10 sealed bass cab. It sounds like a mini nv610 bass cab. Maybe alittle brighter. They have a great midrange and plenty of punch in the correct enclosure. The top end can be eq'd very easily to sound smooth or ragged. I would not hesitate to use these as a sealed 8x10 replacement driver.
