Eminence recommends the Lil" Texas speaker as an alternate replacement for the Eminence Tonkerlite speaker in the Rocktron Velocity S1122 and the THD Ported 2 x 12 cabinets.

Comments about Eminence Lil' Texas 12" 125W Guitar Speaker:

I was looking for a Neodymium alternative to the Eminence Tonker Light, to put in my Mesa Boogie Rectoverb 1 x 12 combo. The Tonker is a great speaker, suited for classic rock n roll. I currently use 2 of them in my Nau Engineering 3 channel amp. The Lil Texas is more American sounding, in the sense that it has a "scooped" sound. The Mesa can sound a bit "buzzy" on the highs. However, the Lil Texas tamed the buzz. Please note that this is after a few hours of break in. I a/b'd them switching the speakers in the Nau amp, the Mesa, and a PRS "H" amp. The speaker really gave each amp a great sound, with a tight bass (but not boomy), nice mids and nice highs. The price has gone up on the Neo speakers, thanks in part to raw materials from "over seas" price increases. However, I had Musician's Friend take 10% off. Choose these, or any Emmenince for that matter, over Vintage 30s. They are not made in England in anymore. Yes, you can hear the difference.

Comments about Eminence Lil' Texas 12" 125W Guitar Speaker:

I'm primarily a jazz player, and do sideman work in country and R&B settings. I value a great clean sound, with no speaker distortion. I love the way JBLs and EVs sound in my Blackface Pro Reverb (2X12), but without a road crew the extra weight is a drag. Enter the Lil' Texas. These things weigh 4# apiece, are very efficient, and have the "Fender sparkle" in spades. They sound close enough to the old Emi "Gold Label" Special Designs that used to come in Twin Reverb Reissues, that, IMO, Fender should just quit screwing around and make these stock in the Twin. They are big, bold and bright, and sound great with a little overdrive as well. At 103db spl, they move some serious air, so they'd be a great choice for maximizing clean headroom on a smaller amp like a Deluxe or Princeton as well. Can't say enough about how good these speakers are, not sure why they're so overlooked!

Comments about Eminence Lil' Texas 12" 125W Guitar Speaker:

I was not happy with the stock Fender Speaker in my Blues Deluxe Amp. Too harsh not enough mids and high end sparkle. Changed out the Groove Tubes to JJ's and after some research selected this speaker. Now in TONE HEAVEN! Crisp high end sparkle, great mids, and tight bottom end. Does exactly what the adds for the speaker state. Very happy with this speaker plus took about 5 lbs of weight off the overall weight of the amp!

Comments about Eminence Lil' Texas 12" 125W Guitar Speaker:

I replaced the factory speaker in my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with this speaker hoping for a very clear, Texas Blues sound. I have been blown away by how this speaker puts out through my amp. I play electric slide Blues guitar on my dual humbucker modified Strat. The sounds are wonderful. Much better than the factory speaker ever was. I have had this speaker gigging constantly for about a year now and I still get comments from other players like "How do you get that cool sound?" I recommend this speaker highly. I will buy another one for my new Hot Rod xtn cabinet soon. You want tight, clear sounds that are perfect for Southern Blues/Rock. Don't look any farther. This is the one!

Comments about Eminence Lil' Texas 12" 125W Guitar Speaker:

Long time ago I bought two Rocktron S112 cabinets. I thought they where too bright and decided to replace the cones with high quality Fane speakers (25 pounds each). It was a great improvement. But last year I had a surgery in my right choulder and could not lift any more my heavy cabinets. I decided to replace them with LIL Texas. Beside a little lost on the mids, wich was not difficult to compensate, I was delithed with its presence ans bass response and paricularly its lite weight! I'm fully satisfied and would recommend it to anyone.

Comments about Eminence Lil' Texas 12" 125W Guitar Speaker:

In most instances this speaker makes a huge improvement in sound, bass response, clarity and decreases the weight of an amp or cab.

I can't tell you how many of these I've bought in the past. If I bought an amp or cab I'd immediately replace the speaker(s) with one of these and it was an improvement every time.

I just bought a boutique amp, Blue Fire, and ordered this speaker again except this time, for the first time, the stock speaker worked out better. That is not taking anything away from this speaker. It's awesome for rock and blues and now I have a spare one or the next amp I'll get.

These speakers sound perfect in my Fender Twin Reverb and make the amp several pounds lighter. Fender should consider making these the default speaker in all new Twin Reverb Amps.

Bought this to get a more "American" Fender-style tone from my Quilter Aviator Gold. The Lead 80 Celestion it come with sounded great, but had a bit more British mid character than I want for my retro country band. I play steel guitar and Tele with it, and it's great for both. Excellent speaker.

Just bought this as replacement for the Celestion Lead 80 in my Quilter Aviator. Love the Celestion, but wanted a bit more "American" style tonality. All I can say is WOW. This is a great speaker. I wanted a bit less mid-range from the speaker for playing cleaner twang-style, and this fits the bill perfectly.

Comments about Eminence Lil' Texas 12" 125W Guitar Speaker:

I bought two of these to load into a Seismic Audio 2x12 traditional cabinet to go with my Mesa/Boogie Dual Recto amplifier.

The cabinet I purchased for these weighs about 25 pounds empty. The loaded cabinet weighs less than a bag of dog food (35 pounds). The sound is certainly loud and aggressive. The speakers cut through as well as the celestion vintage 30's that came with my Mesa, but the tone is just a hair brighter.

The sound quality is certainly a plus in my book, and the reduced weight is tremendously helpful. My only complaint is that the two speakers I received had different paint on the baskets, one was matte black and the other high gloss, but since they are confined to a cabinet, no one will notice. They both sound exactly the same.

Personally, I'd recommend these to replace heavier speakers. They work great for hard rock. Not sure how they'd sound doing a clean jazz thing - I've played with them alone very clean, but in a live setting, I've only pushed them into hard rock and metal.
