Comments about Eminence Patriot Swamp Thang 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

I installed a New Swamp Thang in my Fender Blues Deluxe, Anthony at Eminence was a lot of help in picking the right speaker. I play Modern country so there's a lot of drop D and lows and the Swamp Thang really pumps it, and the highs sing using boost and distortion but I'm not real happy with the clean sound, the amp has lost the Fender bell like tones it's more harsh, I've put 8 hrs of hard gigging so far and it seems to be loosening up so time will tell, other than that I love it.

Comments about Eminence Patriot Swamp Thang 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

I went with the advice of a forum and added this speaker to my Orange 2x12 cabinet, replacing one of the factory Celestion Vintage 30 (60 watt) I will say that my cabinet is closed back 2x12 and was BOOMY since Orange puts no insulation inside whatsoever. I added foam to soften and clean it up. The result is amazing! I am running a 50 watt JCM800 and a 50 watt Crate Stealth as well as a Orange Micro Terror. All amps sounds better to me after switching out one Clestion Vintage 30 for this Swamp Thang.

The reult: deeper, punchier, more pronounced lows and nice clear highs that offer tonal characteristics outside a Celestion v30's tonal and frequency range.

Mixing speakers and addind this one turned out to be a great idea and I am so happy.

I will say that being new, this speaker won't sound impressive at first. I'd follow the advice I got and play on the quieter side of things initially to allow speaker cone material to break in. The speaker will get better, so be patient at first. The sound will improve and you'll get the intended awesome result.

By itself or paired in a 2x12 with identical, I can also see a lot of potential for southern rock and country music playing, since the speaker produces a wider and smoother frequency range than a Vintage 30, voiced more for crunch and distortion. I was playing some old classic Johnny Cash style guitar and the driving low notes are awesome for that kind of sound and style. It produces highs and lows a vintage 30 doesn't which can be good or bad depending on what you want your final sound to be. I play hard rock mostly and do like to shred it up, but also like picking on the Dead and country stuff, and this speaker does well for me.

This is a quality speaker at a great price. Check out their website for this speaker as well as others and they have all the frequency maps of each for comparison. You can find other options voiced more for your needs. Regardless, Eminence makes a great product and I am happy with what they're producing these days.

I got these for my Fender Frontman 212r. The stock speakers were only 50-watt, so I swapped those out for Celestion 75-watt, still too much breakup for my taste. Researched, found these, got 'em, badda-bing badda-boom---->Headroom! Nice un-coloured sound, lets your amp and guitar speak clean verses for themselves. My wah and flanger were major sources for wayward frequencies that lead to speaker-breakup, I wanted cleaner than clean with AND without pedals engaged. These do the trick...WONDERFUL absolutely wonderful!

I put the swamp thang in my 2x12 cab with a Fender special design speaker and what a difference. The swamp thang is loud, with powerful bass and alot of punch. I play heavy death metal and thrash tuned to low B and this speaker can take as much distortion and you can throw at it. If you want a louder more powerful tone then try these speakers before buying a new amp. My Marshall Mg 100 sounds good now!!!!! I would choose the swamp thang over the vintage 30 any day. Its nothing but good fat tone. Now my drummer can hear my guitar better during practice. Thanks Eminence.

This speaker is 150 watt monster. I use it in a open back 1/12 cab for small clubs and practice with the full band. Works great with all my amps tube or solid state. Really warms up the solid state amps. I can run my JVM100 watter thru this and no worries of blowing the speaker. Like I said 150 Watts! Great price for this beast.

Comments about Eminence Patriot Swamp Thang 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

I recently replaced the stock speakers in my Fender FM212 with a Swamp Thang and Texas Heat, and could not be happier with the sound I'm getting.
I play progressive/techdeathmetal (usually in A standard) and was looking for a speaker that would give me alot more bottom/mid but still be able to articulate fast picking. I heard/read that this setup was the way to go. So I ordered/recieved/installed them and never looked back. Tons of lowend and mids but still keeps an articulate/smooth highend. My only gripe is that the low end gets a little incoherent when playing fast but I figure this is from the speakers not being broke in yet and haven't had the opportunity to really crank it up.
So, If you love playing HEAVY music, this is the set up you want.

Replaced some stock G12Ls with these. Big volume increase and meatier, tighter sound. Pairs well with my other 2 seventy80s for my purpose which is heavy, technical metal. Suprisingly sweet clean sound as well. Good speakers

I record at home with a single Sure 57. I replaced my Celestion Seventy 80's in my Randall 2x12 with one of these and paired it with a Texas Heat. I tried for months to get a good sound out of those Seventy 80's and just got fet up. Once I put the Swamp Thang in I got a great sound right off the bat and didn't even break in the speaker yet.

If you are looking for a great speaker at a great price then this is it. It's best for hard rock and metal, but I'm sure with the right amp rig it could be used for anything.

The quality was very nice. It came well packed and was shipped very quickly. It was very easy to install; just a few screws and a couple of wires to slip on. Unfortunately I did not hear a tremendous improvement vs. the original speaker (Peavey 6505+). This may have to do with where I'm practicing and the style of music I play as much as anything else. I'll reserve final judgment until I get somewhere that I can crank it up.
