I have a Fender FM 212R 100 watt solid state amp. I hated the tone of it. Too much trashy sounding 1.2 to 1.6K frequency. I tried to EQ it out but it only helped a little. And the louder I turned it up, the worse it sounded. So I put in these Eminence Patriot Texas Heats and the difference is phenomenal! All the trashy-ness is gone. Now it's just rich, crisp, throaty, chunky, clear tone!!! And the more I turn it up, the better it sounds!! It was sort of an experiment to see if these speakers could improve the tone of a cheap solid state amp. My friends YES!! These speakers made my Fender FM 212R one of my favorite amps - when originally I was just going to sell it cause I couldn't stand it. Now it's a gem! Buy these speakers!! You won't regret it! I am now going to put a set of Red Coat Governors in my Peavey Valve King 212 and see what happens there. I am confident I will like the result.

The Eminence Patriot is an OK speaker. It has two drop-off frequencies. One at 45Hz and 1.25KHz compared to a Celestion seventy 80. The Celestian has a much flatter frequency response over it's entire spectrum. The Patriot peaks at 2.5KHz@108dB compared to the Celestion's 2.5KHz@105dB. I like the smooth transition sound of the Celestion over the Patriot. If you are looking for the best speaker I would recommend the Tone Tubby 40/40. It has twice the low frequency range than both the Patriot & the Celestion. The TT 40/40 also has twice the dB voltage at 3.5KHZ compared to the 2.5KHz of the other two. The down side to the TT 40/40 is it's twice the price.

Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:
I bought the Texas Heat to pair with a Swamp Thang for my Twin Reverb. If I were just looking for a single 12" speaker I would pick the Swamp Thang over the Texas Heat, but for 2 x 12 the Texas Heat compliments the Swamp Thang nicely. Seems to add a little sizzle and top end without being ice picky.

Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:
This speaker has good bottom end response and note clarity with single coils. The highs are a little smoother than some models of the Celestions that I use. This is a great upgrade for most stock speakers in today's 1x12 combo amps and about 1/2 the price of a Celestion V30.
Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:
It's a good speaker as long as it matches up with your amp to get the sound you want - as I originally bought it for a Fender amp I was dissapointed but Love it in my Marshall
Late break up speaker - requires amp with lots of overdrive or distortion to really get it to sing - will do Crunch well.
Tried it in a Fender (silver face) Blues Junior and a 66 Fender black face Bandmaster it seemed too dark - has a lot of low mids and highs were mutted. Dynamics were poor - not very responive to pick attack compared the the original Blues Jr speaker. Fender amps lose that Fender sound with this speaker and get more of a Marshall sound - this may be a good thing for some.
On the plus side it works well in a Marshall 205h amp - this combo worked very well - better than some Celestions and Celestion clones. It helped round out the thin or overly bright Marshall sound but yet sounded very rich and chimy on the clean channel. Seems to palm mute well for rythum playing as well - I seemed to like it better than the Eminence Wizard. If you have a Marshall 1X12 combo you may want to try one of these. Your Marshall amp will retain it's British Marshal sound using this speaker.
built well
Good value for the money
Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:
I bought this to replace the Scorpion in my Bandit (teal stripe) that was blown. I bought that amp USED back in '92-'94 and it's still rockin. I'm liking the Texes Heat already.Sounds great and it isn't even broke in yet.I was a little concerned about using it in an open back combo but turned out pretty awesome.I was shocked when I opened it and found that Eminence had thrown in two cool picks. One side says Patriot "PICK YOUR SOUND" with the Eminence logo and the other side had the stars and stripes Patriot logo.Plus they give you the hard plastic mounting plate that says "Eminence Inside" that I replaced the "Scorpion Equipped" plate with.I'll be using Eminence again simply because they think of the customer and go the extra mile;it's the little things that count.
Well what does a loud speaker feature? It was packaged really good and neat in a nice durable box.The speaker was set in protective foam to minimize damage during shipping and handling.Contents included:Speaker,Two picks,...maybe .073 gauge or thinner, and a plastic name plate for installing on amp or cab.150 watt 12" cool patriot sticker on the magnet with the terminals on top for easy connection to the amp's output wires.
My first guitar speaker so I dont know if the outer cone area is supposed to be as sticky as it was.Not sure if glue wasn't dry or what but no harm I was cautious not to set it face down on carpet, couch or kitty cat! The cone itself seemed cheap at first because of its paper construction but after installing and hearing it my confidence was boosted. Its was easy to install and the inner diameter was a perfect fit with no gaps.Terminals were marked with + and - to take out the guess work of polarity. It weighs less than the Scorpion that was equipped with Bandit so hauling is easier and as of now it sounds great from bedroom levels-->wifes gone-->jam session.
Another one?Time will tell if it's valuable. My amp is 12+ years old and only reason I needed a speaker was because I let a freind borrow it and somehow he blew the Scorpion. If I get at least 5 years out of it with proper care then... I'm in! I'm loving it so far, sounds awesome, looks cool in the back of my amp,it weighs less, after it's broke in then we'll see but I'm sure it'll pull its weight.IT'S AMERICAN MADE!!!
Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:
I love the difference they have made in my amp.
Simple feature set; it is a speaker. Well packed for shipping. It comes with two American logo picks plus an Eminence nameplate to attach to the speaker grill on the front of the amp.
Awesome sound upgrade from the stock speakers. Man, what a difference. Much warmer and more full range. I put this speaker in a 2x12 solid state Crate GX-212 100W amp. I paired it with the Eminience Swamp Thang. I really like this pairing and they are very complementary. I do some home recording and have moved the mike directly off of both speakers and they have subtle differences. This speaker has a little more high end brightness or twang from a Strat or single coil pickup than the Swamp Thang without being too tinny.
These are not cheap, but well worth the money.
Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:
I paired the Swamp thing With a Texas Heat in an old Fender 2x12 cabinet. I mike it in stereo and the sound is great! Balanced and full! The Swamp Thing provides the bottom end, and the Texas Heat provides the sizzle. Very nice. You could pay a lot more for speakers than the cost of these. I don't know why you would.
Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:
I could not be more pleased with this speaker.
8 ohm 12 inch peaker.
The tone is superb. It lets the amp sound as it should instead of coloring the tone. Planty of power for any need. This is a well built heavy duty 12 inch speaker.
For the money the Texas Heat can't be beat in my book, well amp!
Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:
I installed this in my carvin x60b tube combo. I was originally goin to purchase the celestion g12k but decided to give eminence a go. for the $ i paid its worth more than that to me. very good selling point. i use a seven string and it handles the low b with no problem, its more mid and low end, but just crank the treble on the amp and she sparkles. going from the stock british style to this is night and day. its starting to break in and is sounding even better. its no louder than the stocker, but the tone is sooooooo much nicer. definetely would buy again.
Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:
Wow! Just got the 4ohm Texas Heat installed in my J.D. Newell 1x12 combo Cab for my 1965 Fender Bandmaster. I play in a cover band that plays classic rock, blues, southern rock, and modern stuff as well. This speaker is exactly what I was looking for. Nice Blackface character with gobs of headroom. I use pedals and I was looking for clean. This rig gives me a platform to get the sounds I need in a handy package.
Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:
The stock 30 watt speakers in my 4x12 cabinet just weren't cutting it! These Eminence speakers keep their cool and don't break up at low volumes but they do not limit your playing. Instead they pronounce your playing smoothly even with a 100 watt high gain tube head on the overdrive channel or on the crystal clean channel as I've tested it. These speakers course sound modern and american with texas spice so if you are looking for lower wattage vintage british tones, check out the eminence red coat series, jensen or celestion speakers instead.
