I have a Mustang III and I liked the Celestion GT100 speaker but I have swapped speakers in other amps with great results and wanted to see if I could boost the output in my little mustang . I first installed a Swamp Thang and although it's a great speaker it had a funky mid color that I just couldnt dial out. I called Anthony at Eminence and he told me it was due to the voice of the Swamp Thang speaker and the compact cabinet size together that produces a lot of mids. So per his advice he sent me a Texas Heat and just like he said it would, It turned my M3 into my "go to" amp. Not Kidding! The Texas Heat sounds very similar to the Celestion GT100 (as far as the voice) but with better bottom end handling and rounder mids but the highs are smoothed out for a more balanced tone. Very natural, un-colored tone with a higher db rating so it's louder too, a win, win for the M3. Fender should drop the cheap chinesse Celestion and just install these in the M3 as far as Im concerned.... A very very important note, a lot of people install the new Eminence speakers and judge them on the spot. BIG MISTAKE!!! They are very very tight when new and it takes a while for them to fully break in. After 4 whole days of being hooked to my keyboard with a weight on the 5 lowest keys, this speaker sounds completly different than it did out of the box..BETTER, much better. Even now from time to time I have to dial back the EQ a little bit because the speaker keeps getting looser...If your looking for a speaker for your open back 1x12 amp or cab that sounds pretty natural but can handle anything and everything you throw at it and is also very very loud THIS IS IT!!! 100% American Made too!!! Buy them while they are cheap, you wont be sorry. Hope this helps...:-)

The Eminence Patriot is an OK speaker. It has two drop-off frequencies. One at 45Hz and 1.25KHz compared to a Celestion seventy 80. The Celestian has a much flatter frequency response over it's entire spectrum. The Patriot peaks at 2.5KHz@108dB compared to the Celestion's 2.5KHz@105dB. I like the smooth transition sound of the Celestion over the Patriot. If you are looking for the best speaker I would recommend the Tone Tubby 40/40. It has twice the low frequency range than both the Patriot & the Celestion. The TT 40/40 also has twice the dB voltage at 3.5KHZ compared to the 2.5KHz of the other two. The down side to the TT 40/40 is it's twice the price.

Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

It's a good speaker as long as it matches up with your amp to get the sound you want - as I originally bought it for a Fender amp I was dissapointed but Love it in my Marshall
Late break up speaker - requires amp with lots of overdrive or distortion to really get it to sing - will do Crunch well.

Tried it in a Fender (silver face) Blues Junior and a 66 Fender black face Bandmaster it seemed too dark - has a lot of low mids and highs were mutted. Dynamics were poor - not very responive to pick attack compared the the original Blues Jr speaker. Fender amps lose that Fender sound with this speaker and get more of a Marshall sound - this may be a good thing for some.

On the plus side it works well in a Marshall 205h amp - this combo worked very well - better than some Celestions and Celestion clones. It helped round out the thin or overly bright Marshall sound but yet sounded very rich and chimy on the clean channel. Seems to palm mute well for rythum playing as well - I seemed to like it better than the Eminence Wizard. If you have a Marshall 1X12 combo you may want to try one of these. Your Marshall amp will retain it's British Marshal sound using this speaker.

Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

I've taken my sweet time to write a review of this speaker... about 3 years now but at least I really really know just what this thing is capable of by now. I use this speaker in an isolation cabinet for playing out as well as recording, I have pumped a vintage Marshall 100 watter as well as a state of the art custom solid state 100 watter through it and the thing keeps asking for more... What a monster, and what a great speaker! I use just a plain old vanilla Shure SM57 to feed out of the isocab and it sounds incredible live and in the studio. I have driven it incredibly hard and I think it even sounds better now than when it was new... Great speaker here Eminence.

Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

I bought the Texas Heat to pair with a Swamp Thang for my Twin Reverb. If I were just looking for a single 12" speaker I would pick the Swamp Thang over the Texas Heat, but for 2 x 12 the Texas Heat compliments the Swamp Thang nicely. Seems to add a little sizzle and top end without being ice picky.

Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

I have a Fender FM 212R 100 watt solid state amp. I hated the tone of it. Too much trashy sounding 1.2 to 1.6K frequency. I tried to EQ it out but it only helped a little. And the louder I turned it up, the worse it sounded. So I put in these Eminence Patriot Texas Heats and the difference is phenomenal! All the trashy-ness is gone. Now it's just rich, crisp, throaty, chunky, clear tone!!! And the more I turn it up, the better it sounds!! It was sort of an experiment to see if these speakers could improve the tone of a cheap solid state amp. My friends YES!! These speakers made my Fender FM 212R one of my favorite amps - when originally I was just going to sell it cause I couldn't stand it. Now it's a gem! Buy these speakers!! You won't regret it! I am now going to put a set of Red Coat Governors in my Peavey Valve King 212 and see what happens there. I am confident I will like the result.

Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

This speaker is the absolute best speaker you can buy for the price, and you'll be hard pressed to find a better speaker for any price. I bought this as a replacement for the stock speaker in my Fender Blues Junior. I liked the way the way the amp sounded before replacing the speaker, but this speaker truly brought new life to my blues junior. The bass response, previously non-existant, is very strong. Highs are tight; they just sing. Mids are great, but I like to back them off. Besides the added bass, the best thing about this speaker is how warm, fat, and smooth the sound is. I thought the stock blues junior speaker was warm; is freezes in contrast to the texas heat. Honestly, this speaker is truly amazing. I was worried that the low price would be reflected by low quality sound. Not so. What a steal!

Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

I'm a guitar player with over 25 years experience, and recently I wanted to have a couple of custom 2X12 cabs made. A good friend of mine does this kind of work, and very well. When shopping for speakers I wanted to keep that classic "British" sound, but without as much of the shrillness that Celestions can give. After checking out Musician's Friend as well as Eminence's websites I decided to give the Texas Heats a try. The description sounded exactly like what I was looking for, and that's EXACTLY what I got! When my friend delivered my new custom cabinets to me I couldn't wait to plug in & play. In my rig I play a Gibson Les Paul Studio through a Line 6 POD 2.0 through a Rocktron Velocity 150 power amp in stereo, then to the 2 cabs. I dialed up my favorite Marshall jcm800 tone and turned up the volume to let 'er rip....WOW!! The first sound that came at me was full-bodied, fat, gutsy, with just enough brightness to cut through, and without that Celestion shrillness...bloody PERFECT!! After ripping out some crunchy stuff I played with a clean sound with a little stereo chorus. It was warm, bright, full, and thanks to the chorus, swirling & shimmery too. I could not be happier with my cabs! They can handle ungodly amounts of power, (150 watts rms per speaker, so 300 per cab), and the tone is fantastic! I kinda hate to admit it, but I'm never going back to British speakers. These Eminence Texas Heats OWN all! If you want your guitar tone warm, full and fat with just a little shimmer on top, these are for you! GREAT for modern rock, southern rock, Texas blues/rock, and yes, even British metal!

    A pretty cool heat.

Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

I bought this to replace the Scorpion in my Bandit (teal stripe) that was blown. I bought that amp USED back in '92-'94 and it's still rockin. I'm liking the Texes Heat already.Sounds great and it isn't even broke in yet.I was a little concerned about using it in an open back combo but turned out pretty awesome.I was shocked when I opened it and found that Eminence had thrown in two cool picks. One side says Patriot "PICK YOUR SOUND" with the Eminence logo and the other side had the stars and stripes Patriot logo.Plus they give you the hard plastic mounting plate that says "Eminence Inside" that I replaced the "Scorpion Equipped" plate with.I'll be using Eminence again simply because they think of the customer and go the extra mile;it's the little things that count.
Well what does a loud speaker feature? It was packaged really good and neat in a nice durable box.The speaker was set in protective foam to minimize damage during shipping and handling.Contents included:Speaker,Two picks,...maybe .073 gauge or thinner, and a plastic name plate for installing on amp or cab.150 watt 12" cool patriot sticker on the magnet with the terminals on top for easy connection to the amp's output wires.
My first guitar speaker so I dont know if the outer cone area is supposed to be as sticky as it was.Not sure if glue wasn't dry or what but no harm I was cautious not to set it face down on carpet, couch or kitty cat! The cone itself seemed cheap at first because of its paper construction but after installing and hearing it my confidence was boosted. Its was easy to install and the inner diameter was a perfect fit with no gaps.Terminals were marked with + and - to take out the guess work of polarity. It weighs less than the Scorpion that was equipped with Bandit so hauling is easier and as of now it sounds great from bedroom levels-->wifes gone-->jam session.
Another one?Time will tell if it's valuable. My amp is 12+ years old and only reason I needed a speaker was because I let a freind borrow it and somehow he blew the Scorpion. If I get at least 5 years out of it with proper care then... I'm in! I'm loving it so far, sounds awesome, looks cool in the back of my amp,it weighs less, after it's broke in then we'll see but I'm sure it'll pull its weight.IT'S AMERICAN MADE!!!

Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

The stock 30 watt speakers in my 4x12 cabinet just weren't cutting it! These Eminence speakers keep their cool and don't break up at low volumes but they do not limit your playing. Instead they pronounce your playing smoothly even with a 100 watt high gain tube head on the overdrive channel or on the crystal clean channel as I've tested it. These speakers course sound modern and american with texas spice so if you are looking for lower wattage vintage british tones, check out the eminence red coat series, jensen or celestion speakers instead.

I record at home with a single Sure 57. I replaced my Celestion Seventy 80's in my Randall 2x12 with one of these and paired it with a Swamp Thang. I tried for months to get a good sound out of those Seventy 80's and just got fet up. Once I put the Texas Heat in I got a great sound right off the bat and didn't even break in the speaker yet.

If you are looking for a great speaker at a great price then this is it. It's best for hard rock and metal, but I'm sure with the right amp rig it could be used for anything.

Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

I installed the Eminence Texas Heat speaker into my Limited Edition Green Blues Junior and wow, what a difference. The Blues Junior came with a Celestion Vintage 30 which is supposed to be a great speaker but to me the high strings sounded too harsh and shrill. As soon as installing the Texas Heat there was a smoother sounding top end, fantastic mid-range and incredible bass. I was going to get rid of the Blues Junior if this install didn't make a difference, but now with the "Heat" I'm lovin' it!!! It sounds great with both humbuckers and single coil pickups on 6 & 12 string guitars.
NOTE: Eminence has great sound clips on their website for choosing their speakers and the speakers are MADE in AMERICA!!

Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

I have a Marshall JCM2000 with EL34's and an old Peavy 4x12 cabinet. I play LP's Ibanez and Telecaster's. After spending much time reading reviews and mulling over the Eminence tone chart I went with two Texas Heat and two Governor's to give it a full balanced flavor. Wanted some good crunch/bite but still clarity. I had to special order in the T/Heats from my local store but they had the Govnr's in stock. The Governor has alot of attack and bite to it. Adding these T/heats brought in a great low end sound that was missing. I am writing this review mostly to help others with similar music style's to let them know these will sound great. I found it hard to find similar musical taste reviews and was unsure how the end result would sound for my style.Musical influences: SNFU, Good Riddance, Propagandhi, Rage against the Machine, QOTSA, Alexisonfire, Nomeansno, Slayer etc.I play standard tunings, drop d, and C tunings.Obviously compared to my 20 year old stock cabinet speakers they are worlds apart. The change in tone is unreal, my sound is not muddled and lacking punch and clarity like it was before. I'm now finally happy with the sound of my Marshall (was never really impressed with it even after the tube change)I've never tried any other speakers so I can't say that they're the end all of speakers compared to "X" brand etc. Very happy with the sound of these speakers! Great sounding speaker for a great price!

I installed this in my carvin x60b tube combo. I was originally goin to purchase the celestion g12k but decided to give eminence a go. for the $ i paid its worth more than that to me. very good selling point. i use a seven string and it handles the low b with no problem, its more mid and low end, but just crank the treble on the amp and she sparkles. going from the stock british style to this is night and day. its starting to break in and is sounding even better. its no louder than the stocker, but the tone is sooooooo much nicer. definetely would buy again.

The tone is superb. It lets the amp sound as it should instead of coloring the tone. Planty of power for any need. This is a well built heavy duty 12 inch speaker.
For the money the Texas Heat can't be beat in my book, well amp!

Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

I replaced the celestion vintage 30 in my Engl Thunder 50 combo with the Texas Heat. It really goes to show your speaker is the ultimate EQ. The Texas Heat removed all the harsh buzzy mids and ice pick highs I had from the celestion. The bass is now warm and fat not tight and compressed. It now has subtle mids and smooth highs without being harsh or gritty. The amp really sounds like it can breath now and I'm just loving the sound. I can't beleive how great these are and their almost 1/2 the price of celestions.

For my setup (50 Watt tube amp with EL-34s), this speaker is unreal. The cleans are fat and sweet, and the distortion is singing and warm with a ton of sustain. If you like to play metal type sounds, this speaker will remove that high end scratchiness and leave behind a powerful sound that is rich and MUSICAL. It can take a huge power signal without getting muddy too. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Rex and thang produce more mid than i wanted. The texas heat isnt broke in yet, and already is what i was looking for! Cant wait til it breaks in and loosens up. Try this one first!

This is the second one that I have bought. Great all around replacement speaker that can handle bottom ends & greatly improve the sound of your amp. This is my go to speaker for upgrading amps & cabinets.

I just got mine in today from you guys and immediately installed it in my 1988 Fender Studio 85 combo. Wow , what a difference in both sound and tone. This speaker has breathed new life into a 25 year old amp and has turned it into a tone monster ! Eminence Rules !

Comments about Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 12" 150W Guitar Speaker:

I've been experimenting with various speakers and have found that pairing a Texas Heat with a Swamp Thang works for me. And, for me, the Texas Heat is my sound.

My first goal was to find a speaker that has no ice pick highs and does not need a "beam blocker". I think Texas Heat, Swamp Thang, Governor, and Wizard all fit that bill. But, of the four, the Texas Heat is a stand out for me.

I get a wonderful jangly, shimmering clean tone and a great overdriven tone as well. Love it in a 1x12 combo amp. The Swamp Thangs I have in 1x12 closed back cabinets.
