I am satisfied with the case. It is not "top of the line" but it is solid enough for my needs. For the price, it is a good deal especially if you are looking for a case for some very rare, oddball shaped Guilds. It will work for them too.
I was in need of a hard shell case to protect a rare Guild X-80 Skylark. Since this Guild has a radical, asymmetric shape similar to the Explorer, I figured I would give it a try. The case is large and a bit on the heavy side. The internal dimensions (something I could not find anywhere on the internet!) are 47 1/2 inches long and 16 3/4 inches wide. This includes pushing into the cushion so I would say these are the maximum dimensions that the case can hold. The body cavity is large and fits an Explorer very snugly with no chance of it moving around. The body cavity is 23 3/4 inches long. There is a little "step up" cushion that is 5 3/4 inches long right before the neck rest. The neck rest has a groove shaped into it that fits the Explorer design. It is NOT in the center of the neck rest. If you are in front of the open case, it starts 6 inches from the far side and stops at 8 1/2 inches (a 2 1/2 inch groove). The case closes tightly around the Guild X-80 and although it is shorter than the Explorer body, it does not move around in the case due to the snugness of the padding. I also tried a Guild X-82 Nova in the case and it fit even better! I tried a Guild S-281 Flyer in it and it fit but had way too much extra space around it. I tried a Guild X-79 and it did NOT fit. The distance between the upper horn and a point on the headstock on the X-79 does not clear the distance across the storage compartment.
Sufficient construction quality for home storage of guitar and light gigging. Would not hold up well on extended gigs or rough handling.
I believe I got what I paid for.

The handle assembly is junk. The case itself is not too bad - but the handle on my case held up for about a month. First, one of the rivets that attach the plastic handle to the metal bracket came lose. I replaced these with a small bolt. Then the actual metal atted to the case came loose from the case.

Comments about Epiphone Explorer Hardshell Case:
Very nice case for Explorer guitar, its's made very well and has a nice fit for the guitar.
It is just so big, that's because of the explorer's cool retro size and styling it needs a very wide and long case; my strat flight case could fit inside it with room for a couple pedals. BUT. it is a very nice case and unless they made some sort of special molded style case this can't be helped due to the guitara shape. I like it overall.

Comments about Epiphone Explorer Hardshell Case:
Really the only case listed on the site for an Explorer Body Style. Bought this along with my Epi Explorer TV Sliver. The guitar's body fits snugly which is good and the storage slot under the neck has plenty of room for picks, cable straps, etc. It's well worth it to have a place for my axe to rest when I'm not playing.
Comments about Epiphone Explorer Hardshell Case:
Good, solid case.
Standard features for a guitar case. The storage compartment is nice and big. The clasps seem sturdy enough.
Fits my explorer VERY snugly. Mine has the green plush inside, which I like (very classy). It's VERY gentle on the guitar finish; no problems here.
It feels like a very sturdy case. A bit heavy (just due to its size), but not enough to bother me.
I was gonna shell out for a coffin case, but this one's cheaper, classier, and sturdier. It cost a bit more than I expected, but it was worth it in the end.

Comments about Epiphone Explorer Hardshell Case:
This case is a pretty good value deal. Its probably not the sturdiest case but it will protect your guitar from normal use. The leather came out of the box with some slits on it from the shipping.I bought this for my Marcus Henderson Apparition, it fits really tightly and kinda at an angle but it fits! I also put my Jackson RR in it. Fits pretty nice as well.
Comments about Epiphone Explorer Hardshell Case:
I got one used like new at a discount. It fits my Epi Explorer 100%. It probably will fit others - Gibson and maybe some Explorer copies. The latches are decent quality and it has one locking latch in the middle. Unlike the picture it has "Epiphone" written on it instead of the big E (at least mine does). The interior is a nice grade fluffy grayish olive material that is soft and well padded. This case is a heavy since it's made for a big guitar. You'll get your exercise carrying this around but if you want to play the Explorer you need to be in shape anyway cause it's a big a** guitar. Unlike wimpy reviews below i find this to be a quality case for the price that fits the Epi Explorer perfectly and looks great and will protect your investment so i recommend it 100%. Rock Heavy!
Comments about Epiphone Explorer Hardshell Case:
Yes my Explorer does fit in the case. All the case does is keep the dust off the guitar. It is a very heavy poor quality guitar case made of card board and particle board with the Worst hardware I have ever seen. This is not a case that you take out on the road. Home use only.
Comments about Epiphone Explorer Hardshell Case:
I bought this case for an Epiphone Goth 1958 Explorer at the same time that I purchased the guitar. The guitar doesn't fit into the recessed area that is shaped like the Explorer. I called Musicians Friend and spoke to a rep and he was as surprised as I was and didn't have a solution. I sent it back. It looks like a nice case but it is unuseable for me.
