I don't own an sg guitar but many of the players I play with do and they own this case. The case works well for sg's. Guitars fit snuggly and the case provides decent protection for simple carrying around from gig to gig or rehearsals. Doubt it would hold up on flights but I haven't tested that so I really can't say on that.

I own an Epiphone Nighthawk and this case is the one recommened for it. I got one immediately and is wouldn't work. The body fit with no issues and was held in place securely. Problem with the case and guitar is that the neck of the guitar wouldn't lie down horizontally. With how the guitar was held in the case the neck would be curved upwards ever so slight that when I would attemp to close the case the top would press down on the neck which could have caused damage. I tried 4 cases from the newer versions out to older ones from the 80s and 90s. Not really what I wanted.

Great case for sg's from what I can tell but for nighthawks avoid. I ended up finding an older godin rectangle case for my nighthakw.

Great Fit for SG Limited Ed. 1966 G-400

Hard to beat

Comments about Epiphone SG Hardshell Case:

I own two of these cases. Simply put, this case cannot be beat for the money. This stylish case fits the instrument perfectly and firmly cradles the neck. Unless you are prone to dropping your case out of 10th story windows or shipping them, this is more case than you will ever need for a fraction of the cost. The "older" Epiphone cases had a single clasp on the back (hinge side) of the case that was about as useful as a parachute on a submarine. Most folks forgot to unlatch before opening, resulting in a broken clasp. Epiphone/Gibson wised up, because the back clasp is no longer a feature on these cases!

Comments about Epiphone SG Hardshell Case:

I was concerned that this case wouldn't be a good fit for my Epiphone G-400. However, when I placed my guitar into it, I was amazed at how it fit perfectly. I'm confident it's the best protection when I hand it over to the airlines for my upcoming trip from the U.S. to Australia where I live. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do about the scrapes and scratches which the airlines will add.

Fits my Gibson sgj perfectly. The interior compartment is big enough for a cord, strap, tuner, capo. Really a good value if you don't want to spend the dough on the actual Gibson case. I'm happy with it. As always, MF was quick and efficient. Thanks, MF.

Comments about Epiphone SG Hardshell Case:

I ordered one of these for my first SG Special. MF gave me an SKB instead of an Epiphone case, which is all well and good except for the fact that the SKB cases fit the LTD Vipers much better than standard SG shapes. Either way, I was mostly satisfied, but be wary of MF sending the wrong product.

Comments about Epiphone SG Hardshell Case:

I bought the case for a Gibson SG, thought since it was an Epiphone it would be sure to fit...wrong! The case lid won't close without being pushed down, which creates too much pressure on the guitar. Also in the description it said the case was non-locking but mine had a lock on it so I guess this is a new/different case; even though they are the same item number. I have two other Gibson SGs with two Gibson cases and both fit. One case is the Gibson SG case that is listed on MF site. Ending up sending Epi case back and buying a Gator Traditional Brown which fits perfectly. Am disappointed the case didn't fit as advertised! I read many great reviews on the case before the purchase...something has changed, the new case IS lockable.

Comments about Epiphone SG Hardshell Case:

Just received this case and, my SG fits perfectly. I also have the same type of case for my LP and, it's ditto on it too. For the bucks spent it's quite sufficient. Looks great, nice hardware, plush lining is super soft, should provide very good protection for my instrument. Highly reccommended.

Comments about Epiphone SG Hardshell Case:

I own now... 3 Epiphone Cases the SG I just received today and 2 335's. They are not touring cases, however, they are solid, fit the instruments perfectly, relatively inexpensive etc... The two 335's made it from Honolulu to Colorado in the cabin. Not sure how they would have fared in the hold, but the trick with non-heavy duty cases is to get them through security. Then, if you have to - you can gate check like a stroller. I would have no fear of the gate check with these cases.

Comments about Epiphone SG Hardshell Case:

I have an Epiphone G-400 Custom. I ordered this case for it, and it fits perfectly.

It's much nicer than I was expecting! The interior reminds me of a nice Geib case from the 60s or 70s, and the exterior looks like a high-end Aria or Ibanez case from the 70s or 80s. All in all, a very good deal and a pleasant surprise.

I like that they left off the back latch. Barring a sudden, simultaneous failure of all the hinges at once, I could never see what purpose the back latch served.

                A great case!

Comments about Epiphone SG Hardshell Case:

A well built and well padded case that accomodates my Epi SG Pro. I bought a less expensive case for my Epi Les Paul Studio and it is too tight putting pressure on the neck. I have bought this Epiphone case and one for my ES 339 Pro and will stick with the Epiphone cases in the future should the need arise.

Comments about Epiphone SG Hardshell Case:

I inquired of Musicians Friend about this case based on one other reviewers experiences trying to fit his Nighthawk in this case. MF said Epiphone recommended this case for that guitar as well. while I was considering the purchase I received a money off coupon on top of the sale price so I thought I would go ahead and try it. It turns out my Nighthawk fit in fine with no issues. The case hugs the body and doesn't seem to press on the neck unduely. It seems like a good fit to me plus the case looks nice with the logo and the smooth vinyl finish. The handle is sturdy and the case seems well built to me. I think the only way to improve on this would be a bulky square road case and who wants to carry that around normally? I would say to get this case if you want to protect your Nighthawk better than a gig bag.

Comments about Epiphone SG Hardshell Case:

I was cautious buying the Epiphone case because I have the Epiphone g-400 custom (the one that has 3 humbuckers) And I love this guitar. So I starting looking around. I looked at the Gator TGA and SGS cases, Which seemed nice but People said they would warp or didnt fit well. Then I looked up a video on youtube of an epiphone case with a les Paul and I saw how nicely the guitar sat in the case. The case fits around the body tight enough that it keeps it held in one place. I have No issues with tuning. Buy this case If you care about your SG.

I purchased this case for my Gibson SG, and it turned out to be a very poor choice. After having the case for 1.5 days, I noticed that the neck of the case, yes the entire neck, not just the lid was warped/twisted to the tune of about 20 degrees. I'm lucky to have caught this as it would have warped the neck on my guitar, a brand new guitar. Save your pennies and get the SKB hardshell plastic case. The epiphone is made of wood, in china, and by the time it gets here, who knows what condition it will be in. VERY VERY POOR QUALITY CONTROL.

The case looked really nice at first glance. There was a faint bad smell, and a little dried glue, but nothing too bad. The case was sturdy, and the interior was great, but... as soon as a pull out my cherry epiphone g-400 and try to put it in, it doesn't fit. The body of the guitar is about a half-an-inch wider than the case's corresponding part. You would think if the case and the guitar were made by the same people, it would fit perfectly. Not so here. I'd measure your sg before buying this case. My sg is about 13 and 1/8 inches, and the case is about 12 1/2. Great case, bad fit.

I have two of these and I think they are great. These are made specifically for Epiphone SG's so they are the right case to buy for them. I have a G-400 Pro and a signature custom Tony Iommi G-400 and this case is perfect for them. I am not a fan of the "gig bag" and if you want to keep your guitar in good condition and help to keep it IN TUNE get a good hardshell case. I saw a demo video for the Tony Iommi SG where a guy had his Iommi run over by a truck at an airport (in the Epiphone case), and to his surprise and shock - the guitar was fine. So it's definitely a worthwhile investment. Not a bad price either. Sometimes you can even luck out and find them on sale!

Bought this for my Epiphone Tony Iommi SG tribute. Fit perfectly, works well. Most of my guitars don't travel so they don't get abused much. The ones that do get a urethane travel case.

I received it in record time, and I love every part of it. Well padded and fits like a well made glove.
