I honestly have never been wowed by strings. I've been disappointed by strings that were downright horrible like Fatties, but these are unbelievable. A. the packaging smells like maple syrup, B. they are packaged in a sealed plastic, much like a deck of Baseball cards or something like that would come, C. they feel great and sound awesome right away.I rreally think these made a difference and will opt for them nearly every time I can now. I had previously been playing the Musicians Gear brand, because they were cheap and seemed to do the trick.

Was looking for an inexpensive string that would hopefully last a little while. I did like the gauge of string, I usually play light medium gauge, which can be hard to find in a good brand sometimes. Bought three sets because of the good price, put a set on my epiphone acoustic tuned and played. Fingers were black from residue after a few minutes, which is never a good sign for longevity. Usually play 3 to 4 times a week, mostly on weekends, strings were not on for only a week or two with very little play and they were D E A D, dead. No volume to them much at all. Still have 2 sets haven't even put on either one of my guitars, because there is no point. Would not recommend to anyone. You get what you pay for in this case anyway which is, not much of anything. Really like elixirs, but have had alot of trouble with them breaking. Anyway still lokking for that great string at a reasonable price.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2003 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Medium Light Acoustic Strings:

With no amps and no effects, the most important variable for your acoustic's tone and playability is your choice of stings. I have used a slew of various sets and E.B Earthwoods are head and shoulders above the others. The overtones these strings produce sound brilliant as the string vibrates. I prefer cedar top acoustic guitars but my friends play spruce tops. The strings sound great on both. Musicians Friend is great because shipping is free, even on small purchases (such as strings). Do yourself a favor and try a set of Earthwoods on your acoustic. You might be amazed. Happy playing everybody!

Comments about Ernie Ball 2003 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Medium Light Acoustic Strings:

I used Martin Marquis for years and years, at some point, I noticed that they were going dead very quickly - like after an hour or so of playing. I finally decided to try some different brands, and stumbled across these Earthwoods. They sound good, and they last a hell of a lot longer than anything else I've tried.

I have been using these strings since the mid-nineties. I've tried a few others over the years but these are the strings I use if I can get my hands on them. Great tone and life. They sound great acoustic and when I plug in.

Beautiful tone and comfort. I put these on my new Epiphone Masterbilt and it blew me away so I tried them on my old clunky washburn and they made a HUGE difference in its tone as well!

Very comfortable and beautiful tone. Hands down the best set of acoustic strings on the market right now (until the new Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze strings drop next month). Don't hesitate to buy these, the medium light hybrid pack is awesome for players who like the heavy top end and lighter high end. Great for strumming and picking!

I bought these strings because i am faithful to ernie ball. I have always used Elixirs for my acoustic, so I wanted to go to one brand. It was too much of a change. The strings lost their tone in about a half hour. I am gonna try the everlast strings and see what happens, but I would never use these earthwoods again.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2003 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Medium Light Acoustic Strings:

I've been using Martin SP and non-SP phosphor bronze lights on my guitars for years because of their tone, consistency, and price. But I recently bought a new guitar and am in the process of experimenting to see which strings work the best on this particular guitar, an all solid wood spruce/mahogany triple-O with bone nut, ivory saddle, and ebony bridge pins. So I bought several different brands of phosphors and thought I'd also give 80/20 a try since I hadn't used them in such a long time. Not expecting to like them, a few days ago I put a set of the Earthwood 2300 80/20 Light-Medium 12-54 on and they're excellent. Exceptional balance, tone, sustain, and bass response. I was very pleasantly surprised. These strings sound more like a really good set of phosphor bronze than 80/20. Not the brightness I've experienced in the past with other 80/20 strings. They're bright, but just right, with a full "gutsy" expressive, ringing tone.

The only issue I had is the winding on the 6th string being so long that it extended onto the saddle...which hasn't happened with any other brand of string. But it's an easy fix by cutting the ball end off an old string and using it as a shim to take up more space by placing it over the 6th string and allowing it to slide down and sit on top of the 6th string's ball end. Works great. Problem solved.

I still have a few other strings to try over the next few weeks but have a feeling I'll be coming back to these.
