I have always used Ernie Ball Slinkys on my electrics, but for some reason have tried a bunch of different brands on my acoustic. Most recently I had Martins on there that both sounded bad and felt bad...not a good combo. Well I just bought a set of the EB Earthwoods & I think I'm done for awhile trying out new brands. I didn't know I was an Ernie Ball "snob" but apparently I am. These Earthwoods feel really, really nice. They're somehow smoother & slicker than any other acoustic set I remember playing. Really smooth & easy to play. If a set of strings is easy to play it must not sound good, right? Wrong! The sound from these Earthwoods is BOTH clean AND loud. as other reviewers stated they have a nice "bright" sound that I really like. Buy a 6-pack & you'll be done for awhile

Comments about Ernie Ball 2006 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Extra Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:
I don't recommend these strings for gigs with an amplified acoustic guitar. Should be fine for practice at home.
First let me say I am a LOYAL Ernie Ball user - I have used them on my electric guitars for over 35 years. I have tried others and always go back to my Ernie Balls.
One of my bands has me playing more acoustic guitar now than before, and I wanted to try some extra light gauge strings so that (a) I could play leads better and (b) my fingers wouldn't be so torn up after a five hour bar gig. So I tried the Ernie Ball Earthwood extra light acoustic strings on my Fender acoustic, equipped with a nice Fishman internal pickup.
They are wonderful to play, easy on the hands and very bendable. Unfortunately they sound terrible. My band mates yelled at me the first gig, what happened to your guitar? The strings sounded tinny and distorted terribly. No tone, no volume, no projection.
I don't think it is entirely because of the lightness of the gauge. I replaced them with Fender light gauge acoustic strings (11 - 52), barely bigger than the EBs (10 - 50), and the tone is back to what it should be.
I still love Ernie Ball - but these Extra Light Acoustic strings just didn't work for me.
Nice to play but they don't sound good.
Priced right.
Comments about Ernie Ball 2006 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Extra Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:
I love the sound of these string but when I put it on the for the first time the 4 g string broke. I had gotten another set of these string to replace the G string. I had the string on my acoustic guitar for about one month now enjoying the sound but when I was doing some string bending while playing, it broke again. So nice sound but it breaks too easily.
Comments about Ernie Ball 2006 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Extra Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:
I remember buying a set of Ernie Ball acoustic strings a while back, and being blown away when I put them on my guitar. After those strings lost their brightness (after 11 months, which was impressive in itself), I went on a search for more Ernie Balls, but came up without any luck. I bought a set of D'Addario strings, and wasn't impressed in the least. I finally got myself another set of these beauties, and never again will I ever settle for anything else. Great for finger playing, sounds amazing when strummed or picked. You simply cannot go wrong.
Comments about Ernie Ball 2006 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Extra Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:
I, too, had been experiencing the constant breaking of my Fender Phosphor Bronze strings. I broke three within 8 days. Two were while performing at open mics. My guitar is reasonably new and the saddle was not badly worn. I saw these reviews and decided to give these strings a chance. I am very pleased. They tuned right up and stay in tune far better then my Fenders. I knocked Features and quality just a touch because they aren't quite as warm as the Fender strings were. But it is not enough of a difference to keep playing with strings that keep breaking. And I could just be a little biased toward the Fender sound as I had been using them quite a while until I got out to play recently and had my string breaking tragedies... new strings, too. I changed them before the gigs. Anyway, these Ernie Balls are far better than I would have expected. I am recording with them now and I am pleasanlty, and overwhelmingly surprised and the tone and feel of these strings. They play soft as well. I am able to land bar chords more cleanly. If they survive future open mics, they will likely be my string of choice going forward. I highly recommend you give these strings a try and you just might not go back.
Comments about Ernie Ball 2006 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Extra Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:
I put a set of Ernie Ball Earthwood Extra Lights on my 35 year old Epiphone "El Dorado" six and am truly amazed. It plays like all the Gibsons I have lusted after in the guitar shops. These strings literally transformed my old Epi from an ok strummer to a joy to play. Crisp, bright treble, good bass resonance, all the mud is gone.

as soon as i opened the package, the strings smelled like maple syrup(hint hint earthwood) but they are loud, have a great tone, and gets compliments...i swear these things make me play better! the only thing is that you should keep these clean.wash your hands before playing(i always do) but you need to try to keep these clean, because trust me,you will want to keep these

Comments about Ernie Ball 2006 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Extra Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:
I bought these strings for one of my acoustics (Fender DG-7x) and I generally used Fender Phospher Bronze strings, however I had strings consistantly breaking on me. I have also never really liked Ernie Ball strings. They would always break on me when I put them on my Strat. But these strings are Ernie Ball's best. They lasted me 10 months (Most ernie ball strings only lasted me a week at a time) but these kept their tone and quality. Very pleased with these strings.
