very good product

By Jerry H.-Kg5Uy

Comments about Ernie Ball 2010 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze 12-String Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I have used these string for the last year on my 12 string acoustic and find that they hold tune well, and played with proper technique are no more "squeaky" than any other acoustic string. They seem to last well, and definitely play much easier than the Martin Extra Lights.

Old Faithfuls

Comments about Ernie Ball 2010 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze 12-String Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've exclusively used Earthwoods on my Martin D-12-20 for about 35 years now. I know that each guitar has its preference, but mine just sings with Earthwoods. I'm just amazed that they're still around after all this time.

One change that Ernie Ball made (this was many years ago) that I did not like was switching the high A-string (0.20) from a bronze wound to a plain string. I have to keep ordering separate 0.20 bronze wound strings to keep that "too-tinny" plain .20 out of my mix.

I'm obviously an Earthwood lifer. I think the "Lights" are the best gauge going for most 12-string acoustics (beefy enough without tension-stressing your bridge, top and neck).

Can't Slide

By Anonymous

Comments about Ernie Ball 2010 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze 12-String Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I bought two sets of these strings. Both squeaked horribly from the beginning, especially the wound strings. Good tone if you don't need to slide. Cheap.

Gorgeous. You will be happy with these. Makes my Martin sing. Just has that 'sound'. Bright, but not harsh. Just what you want.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2010 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze 12-String Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Got these for a 12-string with a tail-piece. Had I had a bridge with pins, these would almost have been long enough... just barely... to reach the D and G positions. But I needed about 2 more inches to get a secure wind on the longest (middle) positions. My MF rep suggested that another brand might be longer. I contacted D'Addario and they said their strings about the same length as these! Seriously... don't they realize that 12-strings have longer headstocks than 6-strings??? Are the manufacturers cutting corners so closely now that they can't make long enough strings to reach if your guitar has a tail-piece???

I like earth tone light strings because they deliver a great tone and tend to stay in tune longer than other brands.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2010 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze 12-String Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

To add to my previous review. I broke my high E string after just 3 hours of play. I was beating the day lights out of it but I did that with the D'addario 10-47 strings and they lasted 20 hours of play without breaking. Good tone and volume for these Ernie Balls but don't beat the day lights out of them or they'll snap.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2010 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze 12-String Light Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I just put these strings on my 12 string Yamaha fg720S. I had D'addario 80/20 10-47 on it before I changed strings. I made a video with the old strings and these strings which wasn't much of a comparison since the D'addario strings were old and the Ernie Ball were new and they sounded different but both sounded great so I can't choose between the 2. I took my guitar to church and the Ernie Ball 80/20 strings were just as bright and loud as the D'addario strings. So if you can't make up your mind between the 2 either way you win. But let's see how long these last.
