I'm making a living in a top 40 band. I've been playing guitar for 40 years. I've played dozens of different brands of strings. I recently switched back to Ernie Balls from DR's. I liked the DR's except that they were expensive and prone to breaking. I also wanted to go lighter, from 10's to 9's and so I elected to try the Ernie Balls again. I've always liked Ernie Balls. Seems I'm always coming back to them. Anyways, been a couple months now on one pack and with about 400 hours of playing on them they still feel and sound good. I expect to put another 400 hours on them. I might even try 8's next time. I like these strings, but the DR's are smoother, and so easier to bend and do vibratos, but who needs strings that break on stage? Not me!

When I used these for the first time the tone was great but g and high e broke within the first week. If your using these be careful.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

If you have been using Elixir strings, these will make your finger tips raw for the first couple of uses, but they are good strings. I think that the stuff people are posting about using them a ton of times is a joke. They are decent strings, but they are not coated, and they will rust on the smaller strings. I wipe them down above and beneath, and they still tarnish. I will probably go back to Elixir.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

When I first started playing, my go-to strings were the regular slinky 10s which did me well in every area except that if I got careless with bending, I'd have strings breaks at the bridge. Huge problem when playing gigs and having breaks in the middle of sets.

I then realized I COULD change my playing style to accommodate the gauge of string though at some time, went to my local shop and saw these and said, "Well, why not?" I have never looked back since. The absolute BEST strings are manufactured by Ernie Ball and I believe the hybrid set is one of the best. Works so well though if I was doing dropped tunings, I'd obviously go with something a bit heavier. In standard 440 though, just perfect.

Give them a try and I'm sure you'll be impressed! Be forewarned though: They do NOT last a long time at all and should be therefore bought in bulk ;)

      The Perfect Electric Guitar Strings

      By Casey Wood

      from Earth

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

Obviously, Sound and Playabilty are completely subjective pursuits. Yet, these strings offer the perfect combination of playability and powerful sound. As with all Ernie Ball strings, they will wear out in a relatively speedy manner. However, they will last for a minimum of 3-5 shows, depending on set-time. Any self respecting musician would be wise to at least give them a try, as they are the best electric guitar strings that I have yet come across. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

I was using the GHS Boomers for awhile and decided to switch. My overall playing improved and the strings kept their tone. There is no going back!

      AWESOME STRINGS!!!

      By Brennan Hilgers

      from Toronto

Comments about Ernie Ball 2222 Nickel Hybrid Slinky Electric Guitar Strings:

I recently bought these strings to replace the horrid stock strings that came with my Jackson RR3 Rhoads since they were floppy and sounded terrible with my EMG pickups. when i installed these strings i was expecting them to slightly improve my sound but they ended up completely overhauling it. These Strings are FANTASTIC the lower strings are thicker which allows for rhythm and the higher strings are lighter to allow for soloing. these are also great for drop tunings because they retain tension and don't get floppy. If you are looking for strings that aren't to heavy or too light then pick these up because you will not be disappointed.
