Overview

Super Slinky nickel wound strings are Ernie Ball's most popular among soloists.

Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings are some of the most popular electric guitar strings of all time. They offer a balanced sound that's neither bright, nor too dark. With gauges 9-42, Super Slinky strings are very easy to fret and bend. They're extremely popular with guitarists who love to solo, including Jeff Beck. Plus, 9s are the most popular string gauge among new players.

These Ernie Ball 2223 nickel wound strings have a Custom Gauge arrangement of .009, .011, .016, .024w, .032, and .042. While they're officially referred to as nickel wound, it's actually a nickel-plated steel wrap around a tin-plated hex steel core. They first hit the scene in the 1970s, and their bright pink string packaging hasn't changed much since. Since then, Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings have become an industry standard for rock musicians.

Super Slinky strings are great for all sorts of playing styles, especially those requiring quick movement around the fretboard. They don't pack the same punch as the Regular Slinky 10s or Power Slinky 11s do, but Super Slinky 9s have playability in spades. Ernie Ball Super Slinky Electric Guitar Strings 9-42 have full, balanced midrange sound. Super Slinky strings have terrific string life, and keeping them wiped clean can extend string their life even further. For new guitar players, it's good to know what gauge strings came with your guitar. Changing the gauge requires some slight tweaks to help your guitar sound great with its new strings. Most new guitars are set up for the tension of Regular Slinky strings, so a slight intonation adjustment is all you'll need.

The wound Super Slinky strings have a nickel plated steel wrap wire around a hex shaped steel core. The non-wound high carbon steel treble strings are put through a specially tempered tin plating process to balance out the guitar's tone. All Ernie Ball strings have hermetically sealed foil packaging that defends your strings from humidity. You'll get fresh tone as if you pulled your Super Slinky strings straight from the Southern California, USA factory. Even better, the packaging insert labels are made from 100% recycled materials. String up your guitar with an Ernie Ball Super Slinky set and enjoy terrific tone and pleasant playability.
