OVERVIEW

Stronger so they last longer.

Gauges 10-13-17-26-36-46.

Ernie Ball 2240 RPS 10 strings are reinforced versions of the standard Slinky electric guitar strings. A patented winding of bronze wire is tightly wrapped around the lock twist of the ball end. String slippage and breakage are minimized at the ball end where these most often occur. RPS strings last longer and stay in tune better than conventional plain strings. Used on electric and acoustic guitars but, not classical guitars.

All Ernie Ball strings are precision manufactured to the highest standards and most exacting specs to assure consistency, optimum performance, and long life.

Ernie Ball is the pioneer of rock and roll guitar strings. Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Steve Vai, and Slash are among the long list of Slinky players.

Unlike other brands, they have maintained very high quality, while delivering a range of custom gage strings in the ranges that fit most playing styles..
I have been using the Regular Slinky 2240 Ernie Ball strings on my Stratocaster guitars, as well as the (Pink) .009 Super Slinkys on my Les Pauls, and I have really noticed the longer life of my strings when I am using Ernie Ball, as compared to the other brands.

These strings tend to stay brighter, punchier, and they tune up to 'stable pitch' much faster than the others that I tried, which is important in a band setting. (think... no more constant re-tuning after a string change)

I have tried many other brands looking for better sound and tuning stability, but I always come back to Ernie Ball -
For stable tuning, whether using a floyd trem, or a fixed Gibson Tune-o-matic bridge, they are unmatched performance.
    Highly recommended!
The termination of the string at the ball is tightly wound, and reliable. Most important for a fixed bridge guitar..
Most sets are priced around the same.. but I get significantly longer life from the Slinky line in Ernie Ball strings

Comments about Ernie Ball 2240 Regular Slinky RPS 10 Electric Guitar Strings:

I'll keep it short. I've used these strings since 1986, and have tried EVERYTHING else, including Ernie Ball's new Cobalt strings. These strings just sound the best and last the longest. They make my Gibsons sound like GIBSONS..the tone I grew up listening to. The reinforced ends REALLY allow the string to stand up to allot of abuse, rarely breaking. They were primarily designed for guitars equipped with tremolo bridges, but I use them with great success on straight bridged guitars.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2240 Regular Slinky RPS 10 Electric Guitar Strings:

I started using these strings about 6 months ago when I satred a band and we started to adopt the drop-D tuning style and these strings, by far, we're the best choice for that tuning. They give off a sweet, distinct clean tone and give an aggressive distorted scream. Definitely give these babies a try if you're into metal and music of the sort.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2240 Regular Slinky RPS 10 Electric Guitar Strings:

I couldn't find any strings that wouldn't break on me in a week as I bend quite a bit and play on average 4 hours a day, so I finally tried these and they lasted 2 to 3 times longer. They do seem to have a little brighter sound.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2240 Regular Slinky RPS 10 Electric Guitar Strings:

if you have a stop tail peice style guitar and need strings that eliminate the slipping around the ball end, these are the ones.
Great strings, overall good tone, stays in tune well. I was having tuning issues with a les paul. Not anymore, these strings eliminate string slipping at the ball end. They stay in tune better than any strings I have used on the guitar. That adds to the overal sound of the strings, which is as good as any other stings out there.
      excellent no issues at all.
these are not overpriced, but somewhat more expensive than the bargin sets. They are worth the extra buck or two a set.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2240 Regular Slinky RPS 10 Electric Guitar Strings:

I have been playing guitar for just short of 29 years now and was a former D'Addario customer until my new Music Man guitar came with these on it 4 years ago. I now use them on ALL of my electric guitars. I perform out live on a regular basis (including an upcoming tour) and do studio work and these strings always perform admireably! The tone I get from these strings is rich, full, clear, and vibrant! I get MANY compliments on my tone too. The best part is that I no longer have to waste time soldering the bottoms of the E, B, and G strings so that the windings don't slip. Amazing strings from an amazing company!

      An Unfortunate Secret

Comments about Ernie Ball 2240 Regular Slinky RPS 10 Electric Guitar Strings:

The title of this review suitably describes these strings. The RPS line is a best kept secret which is truly sad because they are such superior strings. I've been using these strings for 10 years+, and I have still not found a string that is better; especially for the price. As many know, strings play a huge part in your tone. I found Ernie Ball strings to have the best tonal characteristics. I exclusively use Gibson guitars and 900 series Marshall amps. These strings give me the most authentic, bloody, in your face tone as possible. These specific strings are reinforced at the ends allowing them to not only stay in tune better, but resist breakage. I play very agressively, and it is not all that uncommon for me to break E,A, and D strings. But these RPS strings can really take the abuse, and easily last TWICE as long as standard strings.

Been using these strings for a few months now. I have always used Earnie Balls regular & extra slinky until trying the RP. These strings carry a very nice quality sound thru my Gibson SGJ & they tolerate lots of bending without breaking. For the quality of sound & the affordable price, these are my new strings.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2240 Regular Slinky RPS 10 Electric Guitar Strings:

I have been playing for over 30 years on mostly electric guitars & I have tried many different strings through the years & I always find myself going back to Ernie Ball. My choice was regular slinky for most of my playing years until I tried the RPS 10 recently. I am still on my first set & they are very easy on the fingers. good tone for any type of playing & I bend quite a bit & so far they are holding up great & seem to stay in tune well. I like them so much I have already ordered more. I have played on these for about ten days pretty hard & they are holding up well, so overall at this point I have to give these strings 5 stars. Great job Ernie Ball.

They sound just like the regular slinkys. Take a week to sound good and last longer which is good but i like the Rps 9's much more. They sound and feel different.

i say that because i like the tone i get from DR strings better. BUT these strings are great, and you won't have to change as often since they are reinforced and will last longer. I use these for practicing and doodle-ing at home or playing at the church band. but when i really want the best tone i go to DR. these are indeed great for distorted tones, sustain is great and it is on the brighter side. very smooth feel and great for fast playing..

I was in an emergency yesterday, I broke 2 strings at rehearsal and had to get new strings before the show, and I decided to buy these and string them up, and my immediate reaction was Wow. I've used Ernie Ball before I disliked other products because of breakage, however these strings are great. Its easy to solo with them, They produce a great distortion tone which holds up whether you play in standard or lower. The clean tone is a little bright for my tastes but for what they're worth I'm definitely going to string up all my Studio guitars with these
