This was my first set of Slinkys. I play a broad range of music, anywhere from funk to metal, and these strings have been better than any Fender, d'Adario, or GHS strings I've played. This gauge is easy to drop to a C tuning but it sustains standard tuning brilliantly. Sounds good with effects pedal. I personally play a fender jazz bass and the strings were hard on the neck at first but they have settled to create a great sounding bass.

I bought these strings and they sounded good when i first played them. However, about 2 weeks in they started to lose their tone. 3 months later the E string broke. If you plan on changing them anyways, these are good strings for you. Otherwise, I'm kind of iffy with them.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

I find that on a typical long scale bass, these strings are the perfect for D standard or drop C. Although in drop C, the low C can be a bit floppy. Typically I keep my bass in D though and these things play and sound fantastic. Absolutely no complaints. They wont last you for 6 months, but you should change your strings more often than that anyway.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

Have owned several sets of these strings after recently starting to play bass after about 8 years of playing the 6-string...

There's not much to say about these strings except Ernie Ball has never disappointed me and that still hasn't changed! Excellent punch and heavy gauge for deep powerful tone! Great for Rock musicians.

Will never play any strings but ERNIE BALL!

        Ernie Ball Power Slingys

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

So I needed some new strings for my Epi Les Paul bass, so I decieded to give these a shot and whoa was I impressed. With them being a heavier gauge, fat thunderous lows are produced on the E string and nice punchy, driving tones are produced on the others. These are great for rock, metal, etc. Buy these strings!

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

I got a bass about three weks ago. At the time I bought my bass there was only one person working in the store. So stupid me never got the action checked. I brought the bass home and noticed on certain frets it was nothing but dead fret buzz, so I thought I have to have to intonation checked. Well I bought a set of these power slinky's ,and resrtung the bass and everything is fine.

Girl bass player, but not girlie sound!

        By Auntie

        from Jacksonville, Alabama

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

I play in the stander E-A-D-G formation on my bass and these strings are slamin'! I started out with Super Slinkys but they broke too often (they didn't like to be plucked or slapped). Power Slinkys are built to last. I also use an effects processor on some songs and these strings give a pure tone and smooth sound. The price is also right. I've been playing for almost 20 years and these are the best strings I've ever used.

        Great for a low tuning!

        By Kris-tRBY5

        from Saskatchewan, Canada

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

These strings have an amazing sound to them if you into a low tuning. My band plays songs in Drop D and it just does not sound right. Dont even try these if you like to play in standard. I still use them even though we play in drop D all the time, they are just that good!
