Have owned several sets of these strings after recently starting to play bass after about 8 years of playing the 6-string...

There's not much to say about these strings except Ernie Ball has never disappointed me and that still hasn't changed! Excellent punch and heavy gauge for deep powerful tone! Great for Rock musicians.

Will never play any strings but ERNIE BALL!

      Best Balanced Strings

      By Justin-7G4E.

      from Atlanta

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

This was my first set of Slinkys. I play a broad range of music, anywhere from funk to metal, and these strings have been better than any Fender, d'Adario, or GHS strings I've played. This gauge is easy to drop to a C tuning but it sustains standard tuning brilliantly. Sounds good with effects pedal. I personally play a fender jazz bass and the strings were hard on the neck at first but they have settled to create a great sounding bass.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

I find that on a typical long scale bass, these strings are the perfect for D standard or drop C. Although in drop C, the low C can be a bit floppy. Typically I keep my bass in D though and these things play and sound fantastic. Absolutely no complaints. They wont last you for 6 months, but you should change your strings more often than that anyway.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

These strings have an amazing sound to them if you into a low tuning. My band plays songs in Drop D and it just does not sound right. Dont even try these if you like to play in standard. I still use them even though we play in drop D all the time, they are just that good!

Girl bass player, but not girlie sound!

        By Auntie

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

I play in the stander E-A-D-G formation on my bass and these strings are slamin'! I started out with Super Slinkys but they broke too often (they didn't like to be plucked or slapped). Power Slinkys are built to last. I also use an effects processor on some songs and these strings give a pure tone and smooth sound. The price is also right. I've been playing for almost 20 years and these are the best strings I've ever used.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

So I needed some new strings for my Epi Les Paul bass, so I decieded to give these a shot and whoa was I impressed. With them being a heavier gauge, fat thunderous lows are produced on the E string and nice punchy, driving tones are produced on the others. These are great for rock, metal, etc. Buy these strings!

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

Hands down the best strings for down tuned bass. I tune in drop C. The clarity and definition in the low C is unbelievable, not to mention the amazing punch in the mids and the sustain in the highs. Unbelievable, unbelievable, UNBELIEVABLE!If you want to cut the new strings, get a wirecutter, because scissors just wont do it.

I got a bass about three weks ago. At the time I bought my bass there was only one person working in the store. So stupid me never got the action checked. I brought the bass home and noticed on certain frets it was nothing but dead fret buzz, so I thought I have to have to intonation checked. Well I bought a set of these power slinky's ,and resrtung the bass and everything is fine.

I had a set of medium gauge D'addarios for a while, and then I decided I was going to go up to heavy gauge. So I looked for some d'addario heavy gauge strings. The music shop didn't have any, and I'm glad. I bought a set of these instead, and they sound awesome! Hard to cut to length, but thats a good thing, they wont break. I really had to ram these through the bridge on my Ibanez. From now on im going with Ernie Ball, these made my entire bass sound better!

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

from the very first time i ever bought new strings for my guitar, it was ernie ball. the brand i wanted was out of stock, so i chose ernie ball strings because they were the next lower price tag. i've never looked back. the tone, playability, price, and longevity of these strings make them the best deal out there. when i bought my first bass, i restrung it because the strings weren't ernie ball. bottom line is that on my guitars and basses, if it ain't ernie balls, they have no business on my instruments.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

Have had these strings for about 4 days now and I am very impressed. They are brilliant for drop tunings and maintain a solid yet playable tension right down to Drop-B (Drop D feels like playing E on my old strings). Only small complaints are that the core wire is VERY strong and can be very hard to cut to length, and be prepared for some neck adjustments becasue these WILL increase your action (if you move up from a lighter gauge that is. Overall great strings...

Comments about Ernie Ball 2831 Slinky Round Wound Power Bass Strings:

These strings are some of the best Ive ever owned. I use Ernie Balls almost exclusively because I switched once and those strings lasted threw months. These really get the job done. They sound great with fingers, slap, tap and pick. They sound so good with a pick, that I sometimes find myself using a pick a lot more often than fingers. PS: These strings are made for tuning down at least one full step down. I use drop C tuning and they are wonderful for it.
