I play bass in a very chordy, high end fashion, almost like a classical guitar. I play a lot of harmonics, and high end stuff, so I wanted strings that deliver a sharp, clear, and crisp sound to me; not the typical "fat bass" sound that every Red Hot Chili Peppers fan wants to hear. These are perfect for me. I love these as a soloist, but if you're looking for something to slap or play low end stuff to then these aren't for you. These have a relatively good bass sound, but I think they're all about clearly expressing individual notes, rather than power.

I bought a set of these looking for something a little brighter than what I was already using. I was smart enough to also buy a set of my usual strings. I played the Ernie Balls for a couple of hours, but my mind was made up in the first song. These are junk!!!! Very muddy. Save your money, buy something else.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2834 Super Slinky Roundwound Bass Strings:

I switched to these strings from D'addario strings and I can tell you there was definitely a significant difference. They are perfect for my playing style which involves a lot of popping and slapping. I definitely recommend using these strings no matter what playing style you have.

I have used other string and some are not bad , However I like these the best . I have been using them for years now and always have extra on hand. I am a little hard on strings because I do play alot . I ask for them as gifts from my kids they never know what to get me , this is a perfect gift.

IF YOU PLAN ON GIGGING ALOT!

Comments about Ernie Ball 2834 Super Slinky Roundwound Bass Strings:

Ernie Balls have been my "go to" strings for a long time. I gig 6 nights a week (2-3 sets a night) and find that no matter what strings i use, they go dead within two weeks (aside from elixirs which i like, but i usually break the G with in a couple of weeks, leaving me with 3 crispy strings and a used dead ernie ball G... ha!). They have great tone off the bat and maintain after broken in... I play a stingray and a deluxe p bass. These strings are a great choice if you gig frequently and are changing your strings regularly anyway... GREAT FEEL and VALUE!!!!! Thanks EB and MF!!!!

        An Old Bass Player

        By An old bass player

        from Murfreesboro, Tenn

Comments about Ernie Ball 2834 Super Slinky Roundwound Bass Strings:

I have been playing bass for 35 years and these strings are the only ones I've used in the last 20+ years. The price was what turned me first, but the sound and action has kept me around. I am too old to change strings now, and I don't have any reason to change. Just my humble opinion.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2834 Super Slinky Roundwound Bass Strings:

Nothing compares to these completely perfect strings...they last a very long time and they sound nice and bright but at the same time remind you that it's BASS you are playing...not guitar. It's for bass players who simply want to f some crisp, bright, yet bassy bass. stand out and show people what the bass is actually doing...I must say if you like to play a lot of metal you might not be totally satisfied...but these strings are great to the feel...amazing with endurance...and perfect for the sound I'll never play any other strings on my bass...nothing is this good.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2834 Super Slinky Roundwound Bass Strings:

In my opinion these are hands-down the best strings for electric instruments. They feel great, sound great, and last forever. The price is just an added bonus! I don't mind paying extra for a product if it really is better. But, I have yet to find strings that work better for me, even the ones that I've paid a great deal more for.
