I play bass in a very chordy, high end fashion, almost like a classical guitar. I play a lot of harmonics, and high end stuff, so I wanted strings that deliver a sharp, clear, and crisp sound to me; not the typical "fat bass" sound that every Red Hot Chili Peppers fan wants to hear. These are perfect for me. I love these as a soloist, but if you're looking for something to slap or play low end stuff to then these aren't for you. These have a relatively good bass sound, but I think they're all about clearly expressing individual notes, rather than power.

I bought a set of these looking for something a little brighter than what I was already using. I was smart enough to also buy a set of my usual strings. I played the Ernie Balls for a couple of hours, but my mind was made up in the first song. These are junk!!!! Very muddy. Save your money, buy something else.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2834 Super Slinky Roundwound Bass Strings:

I switched to these strings from D'addario strings and I can tell you there was definitely a significant difference. They are perfect for my playing style which involves a lot of popping and slapping. I definitely recommend using these strings no matter what playing style you have.

IF YOU PLAN ON GIGGING ALOT!

          By Robert Muntz

          from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Comments about Ernie Ball 2834 Super Slinky Roundwound Bass Strings:

Ernie Balls have been my "go to" strings for a long time. I gig 6 nights a week (2-3 sets a night) and find that no matter what strings i use, they go dead within two weeks (aside from elixirs which i like, but i usually break the G with in a couple of weeks, leaving me with 3 crispy strings and a used dead ernie ball G... ha!). They have great tone off the bat and maintain after broken in... I play a stingray and a deluxe p bass. These strings are a great choice if you gig frequently and are changing your strings regularly anyway... GREAT FEEL and VALUE!!!!! Thanks EB and MF!!!!

          Great strings

          By Oxfan

          from Pittsburgh, Pa

Comments about Ernie Ball 2834 Super Slinky Roundwound Bass Strings:

Having the urge to change strings, these had been on the shelf for a long time. Being bored I put them on my Fender Precision. Worked out very well, nice feel and they're holding up real well. I'd recommend these to anyone, they are a viable alternative, give them a shot.

Seriously, there are better strings out there. Ernie Ball bass strings die very quickly. Try DRS, or in the same price range, GHS

Comments about Ernie Ball 2834 Super Slinky Roundwound Bass Strings:

these strings are great for rock in particular. i have used them for over a year now and they make the strings i was using before cry in envy! they sound really bright espesially right after you put them on. and as long as you remember to change them every 3-5 months they keep sounding good. i promise you will hear the diffrence as soon as you change them!

          some badass strings...

          By EADGbeast

          from ohio

Comments about Ernie Ball 2834 Super Slinky Roundwound Bass Strings:

ok guys, ive only been playing bass for a year but i know what good bass sounds like. I have a cheap samick bass and an even cheaper rogue 50w amp which together with my old strings sounded terrible. I figured id try these strings so i could get at least a minor improvement....I was wrong, i got a massive improvement. They have really ignited my passion for bass playing
