I play bass in a very chordy, high end fashion, almost like a classical guitar. I play a lot of harmonics, and high end stuff, so I wanted strings that deliver a sharp, clear, and crisp sound to me; not the typical "fat bass" sound that every Red Hot Chili Peppers fan wants to hear. These are perfect for me. I love these as a soloist, but if you're looking for something to slap or play low end stuff to then these aren't for you. These have a relatively good bass sound, but I think they're all about clearly expressing individual notes, rather than power.

I bought a set of these looking for something a little brighter than what I was already using. I was smart enough to also buy a set of my usual strings. I played the Ernie Balls for a couple of hours, but my mind was made up in the first song. These are junk!!!! Very muddy. Save your money, buy something else.

Id say these strings are high end. I think they start to lose tone at about 2 and a half months for me which is better than most strings.

Durable good quality strings. They bring out the overtones of the bass. They're gritty well rounded tone. They maintain their tone for a good while.

Comments about Ernie Ball 2834 Super Slinky Roundwound Bass Strings:

I'm currently using these on my Epiphone T-Bird Pro and I love them. They have just the tone I was looking for. I've used D'iddario in the past but prefer these. They are very nice strings for the price.

I switched to these strings from D'addario strings and I can tell you there was definitely a significant difference. They are perfect for my playing style which involves a lot of popping and slapping. I definitely recommend using these strings no matter what playing style you have.

IF YOU PLAN ON GIGGING ALOT!

              By Robert Muntz

              from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Comments about Ernie Ball 2834 Super Slinky Roundwound Bass Strings:

Ernie Balls have been my "go to" strings for a long time. I gig 6 nights a week (2-3 sets a night) and find that no matter what strings i use, they go dead within two weeks (aside from elixirs which i like, but i usually break the G with in a couple of weeks, leaving me with 3 crispy strings and a used dead ernie ball G... ha!). They have great tone off the bat and maintain after broken in... I play a stingray and a deluxe p bass. These strings are a great choice if you gig frequently and are changing your strings regularly anyway... GREAT FEEL and VALUE!!!!! Thanks EB and MF!!!!
