I've been using Ernie Ball strings for years now, and I don't bother with any other company for round wounds. The lifespan of these are above average, they don't lose brightness to quickly at all and the sounds you can get with them are awesome. Slapping, finger strumming and picking; the sound and sustain are great. These are a great deal too, in fact, the cost to value ratio you get with these strings is pretty ridiculous. You can pay upwords of $40 for a set of strings that don't seem to last as long or sound as good as these and of course that is my opinion. Try 'em and see for yourself. I wasn't disappointed with Ernie Ball strings, and I don't think I ever will be.

These strings are well made. I just put a second set on my alternate bass. I love these things. Good value and they last long too. Buy them. You won't regret it.
Comments about Ernie Ball 2836 Slinky 5-String Bass Strings:
I put these on my esp b-105. By the end of the day, the e string had lost brightness. The other strings kept it, but lost the brigtness within a week. The strings need a heavier coating.
Comments about Ernie Ball 2836 Slinky 5-String Bass Strings:
I'm a studio session bassist in Greensboro, NC. My approach to my equipment is centered around versitility; how many different genres of music can I play with a certain combination of equipment. Understand that the bass provides the tone, but you have to have good strings as the medium for good tone. That said, I really like Ernie Ball Slinkys. I string my Traben Chaos Obsession 5-string with Regular Slinkys because they sound great out of the package (no break-in time required), they sound good as they wear with regular playing, all the way until the cores of the strings are dead. I think these are some of the best roundwound strings you can buy for the price.
Comments about Ernie Ball 2836 Slinky 5-String Bass Strings:
I'll admit, I'm no string afficionado, but these just made all the difference for me. Not only do they have the punch and brightness, they feel just right straight from the packaging. I haven't had one break yet. Highly recommend.

I've used Earnie Ball strings for a while now and I'm really happy with my choice. I'm using Boomers right now, just to see what strings I'll like better. The Boomers are holding their own, but the Earnie Ball Regular Slinky Custom Gauge Bass Strings are amazing! They give a great punchy sound and last a long time. They way I play, I need to change my strings every month, but when I don't get the money for new strings at the time, these babies hold their own! I highly recomend these strings, you won't be dissopointed.
Comments about Ernie Ball 2836 Slinky 5-String Bass Strings:
I have played bass for over 15 years and I have used all of the major brands. I now use Ernie Ball regular slinky strings exclusively. I play alot of different styles. These strings have all the goods. Great tone and feel for all styles. I can get any tone I want with these. I also use Carvin basses and amps exclusively. I just put a set of these on my new Carvin Icon 5-string and again I get the perfect sound and feel. These strings also last long. I keep them clean and they just keep going. The best sound, tone, feel, life, look, and price.
Comments about Ernie Ball 2836 Slinky 5-String Bass Strings:
The last time I used Ernie Ball strings was before I realized that all strings sounded pretty bad on my beginner bass, so I was left with a bad impression and never used them for some time. I just got a new 5 string Yamaha and bought a set of these to replace the bum strings it came with, and wow! There's a good amount of growl and ample punch to the sound. The low B is outstanding in clarity and tension, and all of the strings are well balanced. I think I've finally found my sound in these strings.

I went to a local music store to get my usual set of Dr strings. When I got there they had sold them all so I saw theese babies right there so I decided to give them a try. WOW amazing on what I had been missing out on. They are amazing and I love the punch that they give is epic. I would recomend theese to anyone looking for great tone.
