Ernie Ball Coated Slinky Electric Strings combine the latest technological advances in string manufacturing. All wound Ernie Ball strings are treated with a micro-thin layer of enamel that prevents decay and corrosion up to five times more than uncoated sets. In addition to treating the wound guitar strings, Ernie Ball has taken it a step further by reinforcing the plain guitar strings with a patented winding of titanium wire.

Titanium's inherent strength prevents string breakage, string slippage, and is proven to keep your strings in tune better than conventional plain strings. Ernie Ball Coated Slinky strings maintain the feel and sound of uncoated sets, combining the added protection with the vibrant tone Ernie Ball customers have relied on for over 50 years. Perfect match for those who want to avoid guitar string breakage.

Comments about Ernie Ball 3122 Coated Electric Hybrid Slinky Guitar Strings:

I bought these thinking they would hold up really well. I was wrong. I use a Music Man JP6 with a floating bridge, so I wanted something that would hold up well when put through the stress of being used on a floating trem. It definitely wasn't these. I put these on and performed two 4 hour shows and half way through the 2nd show, my A string broke at the bridge. The inner core broke and the string came unwound. If I'd recommend any Ernie Ball strings, it would be the Stainless Steel ones. Those hold up really well. And they don't cost nearly as much as these do. Never again will I waste my money on these.

3122 Coated Electric Hybrid Slinky Guitar Strings

Comments about Ernie Ball 3122 Coated Electric Hybrid Slinky Guitar Strings:

I use these strings on a American delux Fender strat... mine has a maple fretboard neck and sd sh 6. These strings are much like the RPS ...very flexable and warm tones. EB was probably hoping to get brightness adding titanium coating (on high strings, wrapped on low end strings). Well the tianium adds durability vs. RPS but no tone changes. On maple necks (frettboards) tend to be bright (sometimes over berring highs and too percussive in lows) ... these strings offer a warmth and the lows and mids more balanced without the highs too bright ( the ear peircing highs that make you want to roll back the treble on your amp). In my opinion if you want a more warmth in the highs and balance in lows and mids tone on a maple frettboard guitar these strings will work great for us rock, power prog/ metal guitarists. But on say ebony / rosewood necks you oval tone may seem too warm/ muddy sounding from these strings(never tried but based on other reviews... appear to be the reustst of those whom uses these on those types of necks.
very durable... with graphite/ graph tech nut, locking tunes (hardtail, or standard trem) stay in tune very well. Last as long as RPS... maybe alittle longer. For vibrato, bends, hammer ons/ pull offs , these are very flexable vs. nickle slinky's.

worse than the originals

Comments about Ernie Ball 3122 Coated Electric Hybrid Slinky Guitar Strings:

I picked up a set of these in the store and was hoping they would last longer and what a waste of my money these were!!!! They are extremely tight, coudn't do any good pinch harmonics with them, they make the guitar sound very muddy, and the high B and E strings snapped just after 2 days. Very very dissapointing strings.

Comments about Ernie Ball 3122 Coated Electric Hybrid Slinky Guitar Strings:

I have always used slinky string. So I saw these and figured I would give them a try. I love them. They hold up very well. They have been on my guitar for 3 weeks and look brand new. The only downside is they are a little thicker and I wish I went with the 8's. The sound is a little different than what I am used to due to the thickness. Get the 8's you will be very happy!

Fantastic Strings!

Comments about Ernie Ball 3122 Coated Electric Hybrid Slinky Guitar Strings:

Normally Ernie Balls start to turn black on the non wound strings after a day or two, these bad boys have remained perfect after massive shred sessions, in tune and as fresh as the day I put them on a week later, for the extra few bucks, these strings are a no brainer and will save you money over time with less string changes.
