Ernie Ball Coated Slinky Electric Strings combine the latest technological advances in string manufacturing. All wound strings are treated with a micro-thin layer of enamel that prevents decay and corrosion up to five times more than uncoated sets. In addition to treating the wound strings, Ernie Ball has taken it a step further by reinforcing the plain strings with a patented winding of titanium wire.

Titanium's inherent strength prevents string breakage, string slippage, and is proven to keep your guitar strings in tune better than conventional plain strings. Ernie Ball Coated Slinky strings maintain the feel and sound of uncoated sets, combining the added protection with the vibrant tone Ernie Ball customers have relied on for over 50 years. Perfect match for those who want to avoid string breakage.

Comments about Ernie Ball 3125 Coated Electric Extra Slinky Guitar Strings:

They sound AMAZING right off the bat, and the wound strings stay that way, but the "coating" on the steels does not work well. The wounds didn't discolor or lose any of their tone, but it seems like the steels don't have any coating at all.
I'm not completely discouting the strings though. They sound superb, and are super easy to bend, which I LOVE.
I'm an avid Elixir user, but I don't care for the sound of them as much on electrics. I decided to try these because Ernie Ball's sound incredible, but most aren't coated.
If you don't mind wiping your strings after every use, get these puppies.

sticky fingers

Comments about Ernie Ball 3125 Coated Electric Extra Slinky Guitar Strings:

Been using the 2225's for a long time. I solder all six of the ball ends to isolate any movement. I've been doing this trick for years when I started using tremolo systems. It's finally nice someone designed the titanium, but only on three strings---hummmm....well electric coated strings have been a nice thought since acoustic coated, but I don't think I care as much compared to acoustics. I like the natural sweat, oil, dirt, & grime that becomes apart of the string after extended playing. This has become apart of my tone over the years. Anyways for the money 2225's are way cheaper and more natural for my taste. I've tried other coated gauges as well and decided an electric coated string isn't for me. Sticky fingers was also a concern, maybe a different substance would make a difference. So try them anyways, cause they are a great string.
