    Totally disgusted

Comments about Ernie Ball Coated Slinky Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings Medium Light:

Overall a horrible value and a waste of time. If you enjoy changing your strings this often, buy some cheap webstrings or some Musicians' Gear strings for 2 bucks. I guarantee you they will sound better (because I have tried them and they do sound better, and last 6x as long as these). No guitar player should be presented with this kind of mistreatment from a string company. I had a buddy of mine pick these up for me as a last chance effort to prove to myself Ernie Ball wasn't a bad company. I've had bad experiences before with their Slinky electric strings, but so many people like them that I thought I might be crazy. I found out I wasn't. Apparently those people are either tone deaf or haven't tried many other strings. I have shut the door on EB for good. Please click the back button and choose something else!
They are coated strings but the coating doesn't count as a feature since it only lasts an hour or two before you're playing dead strings. The only good feature? The color of the strings are a nice golden orange. But really who cares?
The rating scale says 1 - Terrible. I can't agree more. The very same week I put the strings on, three of the six strings went completely dead. Just toneless, lifeless, muddy bluck. I can't even begin to describe the disappointment. Needless to say I will be avoiding Ernie Ball completely from now on.
Is there a ZERO? I feel guilty giving this package 1 point. They are more expensive than regular non-coated strings, but go dead three times as fast. What the heck were these guys thinking?!

    great string

Comments about Ernie Ball Coated Slinky Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings Medium Light:

Very happy with these strings. They last and stay in tune a long time. I've tried other strings and these strings feel good under my fingers. I guess my ears and hands are use to the sound and feel of these strings, but what's more important they stay in tune and last awhile.

    Great Strings!

Comments about Ernie Ball Coated Slinky Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings Medium Light:

Overall, I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for an exceptionally well made, great sounding acoustic string
I got these to try on my custom Taylor 12 fret. They are unique compared to most other brangs in more than one way. Not only are they coated, they also have a titanium wrap on wrap at the ball of the string that helps keep them in tune better. They also have a few variations in the guages of a few of the strings that differs from most other brands.
I found the quality of the strings to be incredible! the tone is by far the best I have heard from any string I have tried. They are also sealed in airtight packaging, ensuring they are fresh when you put them on. I have a lot of high end acoustic guitars, and they will each be getting a set of Ernie Ball.
Compared to other coated strings, the price was great.

Comments about Ernie Ball Coated Slinky Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings Medium Light:

ok so here's the deal... bought these because I've been on a search for the perfect guitar string... i love martins, but they dont last long, i like elixers, but i pop g strings, and the price! so i bought these string by the recommedation from the guy at the music shop... TERRIBLE for what I do... I am an active gigging acoustic solo artist... i play 3-4 times a week... im not your typical coffee house singer songwriter... i play the hell out of my guitar... these string didnt even last half a show before the EAD string were dead! totaly dissapointed... they might be good for moderate playing time... but i cant see any use otherwise...

Comments about Ernie Ball Coated Slinky Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings Medium Light:

I've tried all of the coated acoustic guitar strings, and without a doubt, these are the best! Great feel (they feel like uncoated strings), with nice warm, well rounded tone. Highly recommend these strings!

    Very nice, underrated strings.

    By FrankK

Comments about Ernie Ball Coated Slinky Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings Medium Light:

To my ears, these strings sound identical to D'Addarrio EXPs: warm, full, and rich, but still articulate -- not "muddy" in any way. The difference between the two is that the Ernie Balls, being "slinky," have a comfortable, broken in feel from the git-go. FWIW, John Mayer uses these strings now.

Best Balance Between Martin & Elixir

    By ChiantiM

    from Rhode Island

Comments about Ernie Ball Coated Slinky Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings Medium Light:

If you like to play the Medium/Light Gauge then these strings provide the right balance with lighter treble strings similar in gauge to Elixir and balanced bass strings, similar in gauge to Martin. Out of the package they remind me of John Pearse strings in that they feel very raw; not at all silky smooth like the Elixirs. The tone of these Phosphor Bronze strings are as you would expect - deep and rich. Therefore the lighter Treble Strings help complement the coated phosphor. Were they thicker I suspect the tone would be too dark. For me they fit perfectly for Blues and Soul music. Will need to work with them a bit more before commenting on the durability. But if they finally deliver the best from my Martin D-18 Golden Era; then they're worth the investment. So far - very pleased.

    Avoid these at all costs

Comments about Ernie Ball Coated Slinky Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings Medium Light:

I have nothing but bad things to say about these strings. Bad tone, bad tuning, and they wear out faster than a set of wal-mart shoes. I put them on my Yamaha FG720SCA in early October. After two weeks of moderate playing the coating wore off and my E, D, and G strings were completely dead. Out of the box the sound was very dull even by fingerpicking standards but I credited Ernie Ball the guff because I figured they were going for a warm tone and not a bright one. After the coating wore off, the G string busted violently during worship today in church, rendering my guitar a handicap for the next 20 minutes.I am severely disappointed in the quality of these strings, and in all of my eight years of playing I've only tried a few brands that were worse (and less than half the price). Very disappointed, I am warning you, please avoid these strings at all costs.

    Slinky Phosphor Bronze

    By stummer01

    from Adrian, ga

Comments about Ernie Ball Coated Slinky Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings Medium Light:

I've used many other brands of strings on my acoustics in the past. These strings have a better "broken in" feel and tone to them and gives my acoustics that extra punch. Since i've found the coated phosphor bronze from Ernie Ball i refuse to use anything else. If you want to take the overly bright sound from you guitar get these they sound great.
