I put together a guitar cleaning kit on my workbench with these in it a while ago. I used them once on my guitar which i've had stings on for about a month and a half(about a third of my coated strings average lifespan), and I saw that my high e, B, and G, were COMPLETELY covered in crud. I'm glad I got these, and they've seriously expanded the life of my strings.
These wipes will work fine if you use them quickly enough, but if you store them for about a month you will end up with a whole bunch of useless dry wipes. They should come up with a better desing to keep the wipes moist. I won't waste my money again on this stuff.
Great product, helps clean and extend the life of my strings every set I put on and use. I feel like it combines the benefits of Fast Fret and Finger Ease...
What a disaster these are. If you use them as indicated, put under string and wipe back and forth (like you use a towel to dry your back), they leave little "wrapped balls" all over the strings. It was not just the wound strings of my LP either. It was really tough to get them picked off of my high E, B & G strings. They were tightly wrapped tiny balls. Even if they are doing anything good to your strings, the pain they create is not worth it.
A friend of mine had these wipes and told me to try one after we practiced and OMG at the black stuff that came off of my strings. I sweat A LOT on and off stage even just sitting around the house playing and these things work great. I agree with the previous post that you should put a little finger ease or something similar because the strings will be a little dry after using this. Overall AWESOME product and I went ahead and bought the large container and this should last me a while.
I picked up a pack of these the other day, not expecting a whole lot of them, but I decided to give them a shot anyhow. These wipes are great! They picked up a lot of dirt and grime off of my strings when I wiped them and improved the sound quality of my strings! I will definitely be buying more of these!
I have been using these for a few months and they work great. I use them after everytime I practice. Its been over a month since I last changed my strings on my guitar and the strings are in very good shape. They are clean, look bright, and havent lost much of their tone. I highly recommend these, they are easy to use and only take a few mins of your time. My only complaints are that the cloths are too big, cut them in half when you use them, that way they will last longer. My other complaint is that sometimes the cloths will leave pieces of cloth wrapped around your strings which can be a pain to get off. Other than that these are great.
A guy at a local music store got me to try these after they came out. I was in there looking for something to keep my strings from getting tarnished so fast. I sweat a lot on stage and it doesn't take long for them to get "yucky". When I slide one of these wipes under my string, I was amazed at the black gunk that was on the wipe. I now use them to clean off the strings after every practice/gig. Be aware, however that it does leave your strings a little dry, so I always hit them with a little Finger Ease before I put the guitar away. The only real complaint I have is that they could be about half the size and still get the job done. Once you pull them out of the jug, you can't use them over because they dry out. Overall I would recomend these to keep the gunk from bogging down your strings and tone.
