OVERVIEW

Hear your drum's true pitch, control overtones, and tune easily.

Evans E-Rings are an easy way to control overtones from your drumhead. Overlay them on top of the drum and they flatten and round out the drum's sound making it easier to tune. Save time in the studio and get killer snare sound. A great value too, because they're reusable.

The E-Rings are available in two configurations. The fusion pack consists of 10", 12" and two 14" rings, while the standard pack offers 12", 13", 14" and 16" rings.

Pure tone and value. Let your true sound come through.

Evans E-Rings do precisely what they claim; to rid your drums whether it be a snare or tom, of unwanted sustain and overtones. I have a Mapex Pro-M Maple Studio double bass kit that sounds awsome, but the sustain and overtone is too much. Yes I've tried various tuning, and have bought and tried many different ressonant and batter heads claiming to cure the problem...trust me, don't waiste any money! Heres what to do! Stay with your loyal brand of heads, Buy some E-Rings, and tune your heads this way, if you want your kit to sound totally awsome!! Step#1. Tune each drum to its "sweetspot". This is where you'll hear the fullest tonal pitch and sustain. Generally both top and bottom heads will be at the same tension. I use a Drum-Dial for this, and usually wind up at around 75. When you have all your toms sounding their fullest and in good pitch with each other, go to step 2.Step#2. Drop an E-Ring on each drum, play each drum to focus on the characteristic of the sound. You'll notice a true deadning effect and also a big drop in tonal quallity...don't freak out!, this is where everyone goes wrong. This next step is a secret I'm about to bless all of you with, and I've got around 50 hrs perfecting it! Ok, the final step.Step#3.This step will separate the men from the boys! Now that all the E-Rings are in place, and your almost happy, start increasing the tension on the lug screws on the batter head only, about a 1/16th of a turn, and do so in a tuning sequence. Lightly tap the head with a stick and listen for the nice tonal quallity to come back. Keep tightening ever so gently until you hear your drum sound like a $10,000 drum that is miked and gated through a studio mixer!!! When using any kind of drum head muting device, remember this... anything touching a drumhead changes the harmonic frequency within the head itself, so you have to compensate by changing the tension to bring back the frequency desired, but at a muted level. The bottom line is this...YES, you DO have to tune your drums with the E-Rings on, but in proper sequence! Enjoy your E-Rings, Quallity Sound, and my secret.

I got these when I replaced my stock heads. They make your drums sound great......if you're just practicing on your own. If you plan to record your drums, I would take them off. They make your drums sound too dead when you record them.If you have bad overtones or whatever, you should just use a little tape. But again, if you are just practicing, they are great.

Comments about Evans E-Rings Pack:

A lot of drummers give these a bad rap. It's true, the Erings do reduce your volume, but not enough to really cause problems. These rings are legendary for studio work, or even if you're playing a gig and your drums have mics. As long as your drums are moderately tuned, these take away all over tones and give your drums sharp attack.

Playing live without mics on your kit (small venue) I'd reccomend Moon Gels by Rtom, because these do take away volume.

I've been using Erings and the Moon Gels for years, and and they really have no negative impact on drumming.

Comments about Evans E-Rings Pack:

I really like them because they can take a beating if you hit them and won't rip or tear plus they tone down the overtones. BUT they don't eliminate the overtones, just take them down a notch. Sometimes it can be frustrating hearing my toms with this loud overtones. But no major complaints.

        Comments about Evans E-Rings Pack:

i have used these rings for many many years to control unmanageable overtones, fatten up my drum sounds, and control excess drum volumes that usually occur in small to very small venues...my favorite rock-a-billy drum set was recovered from the trash years ago. i pealed and redid the shells and flamed em' in hot orange with chartreuse flames...the bottom hoops were missing on all of the drums except the floor tom which i converted to a kick drum...the overall set tone without the rings was and is fairly nasty...but with the addition of the tone rings i get a very phat, full, even ...great sound....to my ears anyway..
.in the smaller venues using double rings i stick down and am able to play with as much intensity as i need without pissing bar patrons etc off..all in all i believe these would a great addition to any drummers arsenal, they afford me tonal control, and a nice clean full sound on a very marginal drum set...and they are very easy to use...unlike tape, washcloths, moleskin, moon gel etc....
i - like most drummers have a certain drum sound in my head that i seek to achieve...these rings bring that sound closer to my minds ear.....

They're dead ringers and do what their name states...deadens the drum so there's less overtones/ring. I've been using these for decades and in the past years bought more drums, so I need more dead ringers, simple.
