OVERVIEW

Your quest for superior drum sound starts here!

Evans broke new ground by developing the EC2 batter head, which removes unwanted overtones, focuses pitch, and enhances attack without inhibiting the dynamic range as other damped heads do. Rolls around the toms spread in clean intervals; floor toms groan with presence. The EC2 features an "Edge-Control" ring mounted underneath two plies of 7mil film. By controlling, instead of eliminating, edge vibration, the ring isolates and damps higher overtones, enhancing low-end and attack, and enabling a broader tuning range.

I have tried these heads on three different sets. a pearl export, a yamaha stage custom, and a PDP FS series. did not sound good on any of them. They have a very weird sound. Can't really explain it, but i think it's safer to stick with something you know will project better tone like Remo pinstripes or like evans g1's. i guess if you really wanna give it a shot, they aren't like cheap or anything, they are well-made. i just didn't have any luck with them... oh and definitely not the heads for hard rock/metal.

Before buying these, I read all these reviews and they had very positive reviews. I went and bought some and put them on. I used my DrumDial, making sure they were in tune, then tuned by ear from there. Before these, I had Evans G2 coated heads.I was not impressed with these heads. They lack attack and sustain and just overall don't sound good. You pretty much hit them and they die out very soon. They also lack sound in general. They were suppose have great low end, but I didn't hear it.The only thing I liked about these heads were the edge control. I will say it does keep out the nasty overtones. All in all, not worth the money.

Solid sound, quality low tones

By Davo Drumma Dude

from Sacramento, CA

I have used these heads on my Yamaha kit for about 6 months and love the sound. I see other complaints about tuning. I've never had a problem getting them back in tune. I guess I'm one of those rare drummers that tunes the kit every time I play. These heads have a full rich sound and just enough attack without overtone.

weeks of tunning worth for the sound

By Drummer78-lrdBv

from Puerto Rico

I bought these heads after a friend recommending them. When I tunned thm for the first time, I was amazed how great they sounded, but the day after the sound changed. (which is normal with new heads)so I tunned them again and again and again. I was like that for a week but after that it's been 4 months and still sound great after using them almost every day. great sound, tension and almost no overtone. with these heads it's not nesesary to use o-rings or moongel. hard to tune but worth the effort.

Great Buy

By Hell Hammer

These heads sound amazingly nice. The edge control ring dampens the tom perfectly. The only thing was that they are a mother to tune but once you find the right tune, they're amazing. You wont regret buying these.

Evans Heads, what else can I say?

By Brian L

from Bakersfield, CA

I bought the Evans EC2 just for the toms, and I have to say, I'm very impressed. I've been playing them for months now, and they still look and sound great. I recommend these heads to any serious drummer.

time to upgrade those stock heads

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

If you are still using stock heads then you should definetly upgrade. I upgraded to these and they are great. They sound SO much better than my pearl stock heads. You will feel like you bought new toms. Once you find the tuning you like, you will love them even more. I use zero rings on mine but you don't really have to.
