For many years I used Ludwig X-Thin as snare drum resonant head .... I LOVE THIS SOUND, is sensitive and clear ... perfect !!!

When my X-Thin Ludwig snare side tried broke Evans Hazy 300 (300 mils thick as Ambassador snare side Remo or Aquarian Classic Clear). The sound of my boxes turned semi-metal like plastic, unnatural;, drier and less buzz. Finally I ended up removing the Evans Hazy 300 and buying Aquarian Classic Clear (has the same roughly 300 thousand but better sensitivity).

In my view, for its versatility for all styles, it is preferable to use (cost the same):

1. Ludwig X-Thin
2. Aquarian Classic Clear snare side
3. Remo Diplomat snare hazy.
3. Remo Ambassador snare hazy.

With any of these get better sensitivity in the snare wires at any volume dynamics and in any type of snare drum (wood, metal or acrylic).

Hear that whip crack!!!

Comments about Evans Hazy 300 Snare Side:

I highly recommend this snare side head in combination with an Evans Genera HD dry batter! The two together, with any tuning, will blow your ears out with a ferocious crack. I tried this on my Pork Pie BOB snare, and my old Ludwig Accent snare, and they both sounded fantastic! This snare can make bad snares good, and good snares amazing! Must have for any drummer!!!

The Greatest!

By drummmies 101

Comments about Evans Hazy 300 Snare Side:

I have been an Evans drummer ever since i picked up my first snare head, but this is THE BEST DECISION I HAVE MADE! I was having snare buzz trouble and it eliminated all of the buzz, and it was also very, very easy to tune, it took me 5 minutes total to change and tune this head. I would have to say the best batter head with it is the evans genera hd dry, perfect pair!

I got this to combine it with the HD Dry Genera and as soon as I tuned it and gave the first hit I was amazed. The sound was incredible. Every drummer should get it.

Comments about Evans Hazy 300 Snare Side:

i have always used this guy on the bottom of my snare, and i'll never use a different head. a lot of people don't pay much attention to the resonant side of drums, especially the snare. but it's one of the most important things that shapes your whole kit's sound. evans makes sweet drumheads that beat all the rest. put this head on your snare with some puresound snares and a g2 coated on top and you're good to go. this head will give you a versatile snare that won't dissapoint you no matter what style you play.

Comments about Evans Hazy 300 Snare Side:

I've used Evans 200 and 300 bottom snare side heads over the years when I could not find my go to Remo Hazy snare side. I was very disappointed each time. The tone of Evans bottom head sounds muted, nasally...like the drum has a cold. It has to be the chemistry of the mylars in the head that for me, just does not produce a pleasing response or tone. Just tried tuning up the bottom Evans head on my new Mapex Wraith snare to a fairly high tension. It it popped even though the tension rods did not feel like they were even close to being maxed out.
I Will never use Evans bottom snare heads again....I tried.

Comments about Evans Hazy 300 Snare Side:

I bought this for the resonant snare side due to the reviews it got and how it was suppsoed to make my snare sound better. Well I put it on the snare and every time I tightened it, it kept making a crackling noise. I thought it was the new wood hoops I was installing. Long story short, I tightened down to the tone of my other snare (Sonor Maple the same model I currently have with a different lug hardware, but the same...I have 2 of them because they sound that great) and it made a loud snap, and the head was broken at one of the lug points. So I put back on the cheap 9-10 year old Remo UT head that the Sonor snare came with and it worked great! Pretty sad when the one that comes with the snare is better than the Evans one I paid extra for. I use nothing but Evans heads, but I will not be buying this one ever again! Very disappointed!

I paired this head with a Genera HD with great results on both a DW solid maple (Craviotto) and Ludwig Super-Sensitive knock-off steel snare. I like the Evans snare heads and will likely keep replacing my aged resonant heads with the Hazy 300.

My 3 snares all have this reso head in play and I couldnt be happier. Its the perfect thickness for the sound I wanted but could never quite get with either the thicker or the thinner heads by another manufacturer.
