This is by far the best snare head i have used, when tuned up nicely, it produces a loud crack, and i was surprised to find that it is also sensitive, so it's great for ghost noting and such. Since it is a mix between kevlar and a regular head, it is also very durable, i have had mine for about 4 months and there is barely a sign of wear at all.

This head is DURABLE but I haven't found many uses for it. If tuned high it loses an incredible amount of tone and body that was not pleasing to me or my bands. For me, that's a big con. Medium tuning sounds great though, with better response than some other high end snare heads. For the price and lack of versatility, I unfortunately have to give it an average rating. It does not have the tuning range or general tone I personally like. Keep it simple and a bit cheaper.

I play every single day on this batter head and after a YEAR this head still performs.
I play punk , with alot of fast snare parts so this thing get a workout.
Lasts as long as 3 normal heads easy.

I put this head on my Pearl Sensitone Premium Beaded Brass 14x6.5 snare drum. I barely cranked down the tension rods to a 3rd-4th interval using just a quarter turn in a star pattern and head came to life with a Super crack and ultra loud tone!!! perfect for rock music

Comments about Evans Hybrid Coated Batter Head:

Back in the 70s Joe Pollard had a yellow woven head. This reminds me of this head but the Evans hybrid is even better. Yes, pricey but in the long run a value because of its durability. I put the on my Pearl 8 x14 Alluminum snare and tuned low got that deep, rock sound! Oh my! Tuned up still sounds Crazy good for my needs. Sometimes it's good to try new things !!!!! I have tried every head on the market and this is now my go too.

I use the 13" on a Steel Pork Pie Little Squealer and for the past year it's been the best head ever! it's incredible, I go from my giging snare to my 14" with a regular old head that needs to be replaced and I can tell that I need to drop the extra cash because it's like 3 heads put into one for durability, and you get amazing-ness on top of it all. So it's really a win-win if you ask me. Oh and it can probably deflect bullets because it's freaking Kevlar.

I played a set live where I literally out my stick through my Tom tom head and the Tom Tom they replaced it with right after the song had divits big enough to fit marbles in lol...this snare head literally looked exactly like it did when it came out of the box! Not even a blemish! And held it's time...absolutely amazing snare head

I am currently using this head on a brass snare. I was excited to try a head with less ring than my usual G2, but this head kills the tone of the drum entirely. I'm still using it, because I'm in a cover band and no one will notice that it doesn't sound the best. It's nice because i don't have to carry a backup snare

I was replacing the drum heads on my drum, and going from clear, to black color heads. I was a little apprehensive about getting a black snare head, until my brother found this gray-ish one. It is a little expensive for a snare head, but is well worth the money. It is durable, and can play heavy on it, or even light and articulate snare etudes. Definitely my favorite upgrade yet.
