Comments about Evans X-Treme Patch:
For its intended purpose (placed on snare top) this is a good patch that does what it says. It will kill your overtones and truncate the attack drastically, though. Because of this, I put it on snare bottom (my snares are under the top head) and I like it down there better than the Moongels it replaced. On top it makes your snare much more like a marching snare, on bottom, it just makes it much fatter. I'm using a 10" popcorn snare with Remo C.S. Reverse Dot on top and Attack 1-Ply Coated + this patch on bottom, and it's among the fattest snares I've ever heard. It's durable, cheap, and sounds good on every drum in the kit (substantially better than a click pad anyway). Check it out.
