Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary 1954 Strat Pickups, Set of 3:

If you don't read any further, know that these pickups do exactly what they say they will: low-output ringing tone that kills the '50s era Strat sound.

I bought these for a Fender Standard Strat with an ash body and maple neck looking to turn it into a Buddy Holly machine, and what I got was a lot more. The neck pickup is clear with a bell-like metallic ring to it. The middle pickup is very well-balanced, perfect for some clean country rhythm. The bridge is bright without being harsh, and the notch positions easily give the best "quack" that I've heard from a Strat. Run it clean through a Fender Twin and you'll love how clear and bright it sounds. I shouldn't have been surprised that I needed to turn up my preamp pedal (a DOD 250) quite a bit more before the amp broke up...these pickups are definitely in the low-output category. When I switched to high-gain amps, these pickups didn't have the bite and definition needed to cut through a wall of distortion. (Figures for a 1954 reproduction!) However, finding the right setting on a Marshall or Mesa Boogie yielded some delightfully dirty tones...think more Jimi Hendrix than David Gilmour.

All in all, these are by far the most impressive and faithful pickups that I've played. The noise level was surprisingly low - on installation, I noticed quite a bit of wax residue on the pickups, which made me happy. The fact that you can get a whole set for under a hundred is frankly unbelievable. I highly recommend them for anyone that wants serious vintage tone from their Strat. These pickups deliver!

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary 1954 Strat Pickups, Set of 3:

I installed these in a 82 Tokai vintage Strat with a very light weight
ash body and a meaty all maple neck along with vintage correct high
end electronics and a NOS .22uf capacitor. Acoustically, The guitar
has a loud and clear voice with some great low end and warmth to it
due to the big neck. And this is exactly how it sounds with these
pickups installed through a 5e3 amp: the bass strings through the neck pup
sound thick and metallic, you can "hear the wire". Also, the neck pup sound is
fat, warm yet transparent. The middle pickup sounds equally strong but
with some quack on its own. The bridge pickup is clear and hard
sounding but not harsh. The 2 and 4 positions are perfect quack Strat
sounds. Overall the sound is clear, chimey with a very organic shimmer and warm. It is very unforgiving as every touch of your fingers or picks is picked up beautifully. This is simply the best 50s Strat set I have ever experienced
in any of my guitars, guitars of friends or any guitar I have tried in
stores. I tried several 60th Anniversary 54 Strats recently with these
pups installed and they ALL were fantastic. I am usually not a fan of current Fender pickups. I exchanged a 57/62 (?) set that was very bland and I kicked out a Texas Special Set recently. I gave these here a try as I loved the sound of the 60th Anniversary 54 Strat in my local music store. If you are looking for a
fantastic 50s style vintage sounding and low output pickup set that
sounds, feels and looks right, this is it. I love this Tokai guitar and the
pickups will stay in it. They have put her on top of my Strat
collection. Fantastic value and looks too. They sport the nicely
rounded pickup covers that usually have to be bought elsewhere for a
lot of money. My search for the perfect 50s Strat pickup set is over.

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary 1954 Strat Pickups, Set of 3:

If you want an old strat sound this the set for you. The quality is as good as it gets, I've played a couple 54 strats and these pickups really do sound like 1954. Low output give a clean warm sound. Fun to play just you , guitar, straight into your vintage amp, no fuzzy boxes please, you want to hear the pickups/amp and your playing, not a 49.00 fuzz box. Can't wait to try with pure nickel strings for really 1950's sound.
