I have tried all sorts of strings for my Fender Jazz Bass and I finally settled on Fender 8250s as the choice for me. Their tone is very mellow but clear and has a hint of double bass feel. I love to play basslines by various classic rock bands such as Cream and Led Zeppelin and these strings are perfect for late 60s and 70s bass sound. Turn down the tone and you will have a great sound for Blues. They take a few days to break in but after that they are good to go for several months. I put a 4 for quality because I once had the E-String break at the bridge for no apparent reason. Other than that, I've never had any problems. I highly recommend these strings to anyone that likes to play classic rock or anyone who owns a Fender Jazz Bass.

I tried these strings on my Fender P-Lite Japanese bass , string thru the body. The Low E string wire off the ball was too long and was sitting on the saddle. Made my E string too low on the fret board. This is why I gave them such a poor rating. My P-lite may have too narrow of a body for these strings. I am going back to D'Addario strings.

Great Precision Bass String

I got these strings on my New Fender American Standard P Bass. I love the 110 E string. It thunders with authority. Sometimes you can hear it, most times you just feel it. Our guitar player says it feels like the stage is moving. Get a set of these and you will not regret it. Fenders best keep secret, but the word is out now, go get a set. I've played Flats for years, not anymore....

Awesome feel & tone!

I'm a wuss and don't like a heavy E string, preferring .95-.100 by feel but like the .105's tone better. This sets E is rated at .110 but is taperwound, giving you beefy sound but a flexible and forgiving feel. Tone transfer to the bridge is more pure and blends better with the tonality of the other strings. All strings feel smoother and seem to be ground halfway between roundwound and halfwound taking off the edgy brightness found in other brands. I'm highly impressed and wish these were available a long time ago.

The best...

As a Jazz bass owner, I can tell you with confidence these are the best strings you can buy for it. The taperwound E is important, it makes it sound alive and even with the other strings. The nickleplated steel is a best-of-both-worlds feature, you get the sharp attack of nickle, with the durablity of steel. I've been using these strings for over 10 years.

What do you do?

By Mad jack

Purchased a set of these early October 2009 and played one 2 hour gig. When I opened the bass casethree days later, the "E" string had come apart atthe ball end. No warranty. Watch out, bad investment. First time in 40 years of playing that I've had a string literally comeapart.

Heavy Duty Strings

By Bassman-vuvpU

These strings came standard on my American Standard Jazz Bass. They sound great. I myself can find no reason to use any other set of strings on my bass other than the Fender 8250M. The E string does have a great punch. They do have a great sustain with the High Mass Bridge as well.

Great Stock Strings

By Reb

from Midwest

These strings came with my Fender American Standard P-Bass. I thought I would pull them and replace since stock strings are usually poor but found that theser are great and will be replacing with 8250Ms when these are ready for a change. And by the way, the E strings don't come undone at the ball end, they are made that way so only the inside wire goes over the bridge. The outer winding starts after the bridge. Make sure you realize this and are using these strung thru the body strings "tapered" in the correct application. Excellent strings especially when used correctly.

Heavy

This is my standard set. I like the taper on the E string. I had to adjust my bridge when I first started using them. Not too many sets have a 110 E string. I like heavy strings.

Wonder Why It Took Soo Long?

i have been playing Da darrios on my 2008 American P-bass for around a year now and have finally gone back to fender strings. these strings are better than nearly every string out there. they have alot more growl than any other strings i have played. i also realy like the tappered E string. It adds nice bottom end and warmth to the tone. also the 110 gauge tappered E string has a very similar tension as a normal 105 E string. these strings will sound great on any instrument and of course on your fender.
