I just received the tweed version of this today for a P bass I'm building. Very nice case! The first thing I noticed is that this case is made to fit a Fender P bass perfectly, and it does just that. If you're buying this for any other bass, take careful measurements. If your bass is even an inch longer than a P, it won't fit. The Jazz bass case is a little longer, though. I like that my P bass fits nice and snug. It won't be sliding back and forth in there like it does in a "universal" case.
I assumed the tweed would be shellacked, like Fender does with their amps, but it's not. It doesn't appear to have any kind of coating at all and I'm contemplating whether to shellack it myself. This is a really nice case and I want it to last a while. That's the only negative thing I have with this case and it's the only reason I didn't give it 6 stars. It seems very well built and my bass fits in there just like it should.
It's Fender tweed. It looks cool and keeps my bass safe. What more could I ask for?

Received today for xmas. Really the case I wanted because it's got the vintage feel and is thinner and easier to muscle around than the clunky chunky SKB sytles. I'd want an SKB for the road, but for hiking to my bud's for a party jam the larger cases are too cumbersome.
So this one is decent and it's a keeper, but I think the wood probably isn't as easy to construct cases with the way it may have been in years past. This case isn't truly square and does not stand flat on the floor, so it rocks a bit from side to side. Can you say, "'Darn, my bass fell over again."? But I'll keep the case 'cause there likely isn't one better. Latches close nicely. No blems on the tolex. Nice leather on the candy compartment. Lining is cleanly installed.
Of note, the slot for my 2001 4-string US Precision Standard seems like it's slightly displaced, because the neck does not fit exacly straight into the notch. Probably will improve as the lining flattens out in years to come. I'm not storing in the case so it's not a big deal.
Says "Fender" on the tag near the handle. Wish it had an automobile like raised Fender logo like the amps!

Comments about Fender Precision Bass Hardshell Case:
Case arrived well packaged and in excellent condition. Exterior very stylist and interior nice, even smells good. The center latch had to be adjusted slightly. The P-bass fits the way I would expect it to, nice a tight, very well supported. The accessory pocket is large and has a snap for security. The plush red interior shows off my artic white Bass very nicely. I would buy another one with out any question.

Comments about Fender Precision Bass Hardshell Case:
I ordered it because of the name, thinking it would be very high quality...it is good, but not as good as I had hoped.
It doesn't close tightly, and the latch on the far right doesn't click in well.

Like the look and the feel and it makes my bass look even better
Comments about Fender Precision Bass Hardshell Case:
It's the usual Fender qulity and keeps my bass safe and sound. The storage compartment is nice, too.
Nice snug and safe fit for my P-bass, and, I love the Fender logo on the front of the case.
Solidly constructed ... I have several Fender cases for guitars and basses.
Compared to other company's cases, the price is reasonable.
Comments about Fender Precision Bass Hardshell Case:
The only real problem I had with the case was the weight. It weighs a whopping 16 Lbs. Couple that with a 15 Lb. bass guitar and you've got a rig that weighs over 30 Lbs. I returned the case and opted for a gig bag.
Nice big storage pocket.
I would say the case is of pretty good quality. I did have a little trouble with one of the latches.
Way over priced for what you get.

Comments about Fender Precision Bass Hardshell Case:
I bought my 1977 Telecaster bass brand new in 1977 and it came with a standard Fender hardshell case. It is now 34 years later and yes, it is ugly and beat up, but it still closes tightly and has protected my Tele the entire time from when I bought it. Like a Timex, it takes a lickin' and keeps in tickin'. If you have a P-bass, a J-bass, or any other Fender guitar, their hardshell cases do the job. There's cheaper out there, but you do indeed get what you pay for. Don't worry about it, just buy it.
Comments about Fender Precision Bass Hardshell Case:
OK--so my cheap Fender case showed up crushed by the Postal Service. Here, they replaced it with this beauty and gave me a whopping discount. This is the kind of service that will keep me coming back. New case is really cool too.
