Comments about Fender Replacement Vintage Bass Nickel Tuner Set:

Very cool for the vintage look, but of course, you have you get used to the backward turning. Value is only 5 because they come with no bushings or attaching screws. Quality is 7 because when they are not especially smooth.

Good quality Fender Reverse VR...

Comments about Fender Replacement Vintage Bass Nickel Tuner Set:

THese are good quality for what you pay for. They are solid and fit Fender re-issue basses and some others. THey do NOT come with screws or bushings so if you are using these for a bass project and don't already have bushings and screws you'll have to buy those. That's why i give these only a 4 in value since it would be easy for Fender to include the bushings and screws for a small increase in price - i don't know why these aren't included so i downgraded my rating. One other important point - these are the vintage style that are reversed gear. That means you turn the opposite direction to tighten. This is standard on all the older vintage basses and some new re-issued ones. I have a Fender re-issue P-bass that has these so i know they are reversed. It takes a while to get used to and if you switch between basses at a gig you have to constantly remember this. Other than that these are solid tuners that will keep tune and stable.

Reverse Tuners

By stefanjlane

from Atlanta

Comments about Fender Replacement Vintage Bass Nickel Tuner Set:

I own a 63 P Bass and these RI or replacement tuners are completely superior to the original. The 18:1 turning ratio allows the bassist accurate and stay put tonality. Bushingsd and screws can be purchased from any of a number of suppliers; Angela Instruments and the Fret Shop to name a couple. Building and repairing instruments requires an exacting set of skills that the untrained and impatient do not have. These tuners are terrific!!!!!

Where are the bushings?

By Luvie

from Houston

Comments about Fender Replacement Vintage Bass Nickel Tuner Set:

I recieved these tuners today after waiting several months for them to come back in stock. I had purchased a different set from All-parts since these were out of stock but figured I could use these on a later project down the road. Well I received them and while it was disturbing that there were no mounting screws I was horrified to find that they do not come with the bushings that they mount in to the holes in the neck. The bushings cannot be purchased on their own; they come as a set! How am I ever going to use these? What a waste of money! They cost a lot more at All-parts but at least you get all the parts!

Careful now!!!

By Guitar/Bass Player

Comments about Fender Replacement Vintage Bass Nickel Tuner Set:

Very nice tuners, heavy duty. What is left out of the description is that they do NOT come with bushings or screws. So they are indeed REPLACEMENT tuners, and not really for a new bass like I was putting together.

Ask me a question

Comments about Fender Replacement Vintage Bass Nickel Tuner Set:

I ordered the Fender replacement tuners to go on a "hillbilly" home made upright bass I built. I bought a set of cheaper tuners earlier that the gears stripped out on in about a month because of inferior metal. I wasn't too concerned that the bushings and screws would not be included with the Fender tuners because I had the bushings and screws from the old set I could use. When the tuners arrived quickly, the screws and bushings were included. I replaced the old tuners with the Fender tuners and they are working fine. These are nice heavy metal tuners and should last a long time. Thanks MF.
