These things are great! I was using some Grolsch Rubber Gaskets before and although they work fine, they're too soft and stretchy to really keep my guitar strap locked in the pins. But these Fender Strap Blocks are made of harder/stiffer rubber so they offer more security in regards to preventing my straps from popping out of the pins. They're a little difficult to install but that's the point, they shouldn't come off easily as well. The pack comes with two sets of Strap Blocks ( Red & Black ) for about the same price as a 12 pack of Guitar Picks. They work great unless you're planning on doing some stupid aerial acrobatics ala early EVH with your guitar( that's why Eddie has some industrial Hook & Eye on his setup ), your axe is pretty secured. AND, the best thing above all is that NO MODIFICATIONS are needed to be done on your guitar! Just put your straps on the pins and pop these babies on, that's it! I see more and more Pro's using these Strap Blocks for live gigs. It just makes sense. Would you want to start messing with your three grand PRS or Gibson just to put a bulky, ugly and expensive strap lock on there? No way! Yeah, they offer a great amount of security but I think they're a little over kill in my opinion. Get some of these and give 'em a try!

This is NOT a review of these Fender strap locks.
Instead I am using METAL washers from my local hardware store. I was inspired by a guitar I got in a pawn shop that had this set up already. For the same price of the Fender ones listed here I got a bag of 50 washers, that's enough for 25 guitars! I just removed the strap button from the guitar, put it through the hole in the washer (the SMALLER base of the strap button that touches the guitar goes through first) then I fit the strap on afterwards & screw it all back onto the guitar. Some strap buttons have a slightly larger base than others so I took a few of them with me to the store to make sure they would fit thruough the washers. The washer has a nice nickel-like finish matching most of my strap buttons (except for gold or black of course) & will NOT break or split like other reviewers have said about the Fender ones. The washers I have been using are about the same size as the washer part of the Dunlop straplock system.

Didn't want to drill holes for strap locks in an expensive vintage instrument. These are very close to perfect.

Comments about Fender Strap Blocks (4-Pack):

Other strap locks have failed me. I'm using these now. I don't use standard end pins either. Mine are wider (came with other strap locks) and with the rubber washers it holds the strap on tight but not impossible to remove.

      Not for long term use

Comments about Fender Strap Blocks (4-Pack):

This product is easy to use and functions properly IF and ONLY IF it is on a certain style of strap button. When jumping around of simply tilting the guitar the blocks tend to work their way off the button, this caused me to drop my Thunderbird bass as well as my Telecaster (of all guitars). (They seem to work fine on my Schecter but only because the buttons are flat bottom facing the strap and not on a 45* angle)

ALSO these are not a long term solution, after about a month or so the rubber became stiff and cracked and eventually made me have to trash them.

If your looking for strap locks these are NOT A SUBSTITUTE do yourself a favor and spend some extra cash on some actual locks.

Comments about Fender Strap Blocks (4-Pack):

I am not a strap lock fan, but still need to have the security of not having my axe fall off when playing live. The problem is that they won't fit on PRS guitars. I'm unable to use them....I can still recommend them as an alternative, not for PRS guitars.

These babys' do the job! Great idea. They are a bit hard to put on some strap buttons but that's good. You don't want the strap to fall off! I found that some strap pins these blocks just will not fit. They don't fit my Taylor. But for my Fender Strat they work fine.
Can't say what other brands they do or do not fit.

The strap on my new LP Jr was popping off so I grabbed a bag of these at GC. Put one on with a bit of work. The next one had a weak seam or something. They are made of a dense rubber and apparently have a weak line down the middle where they can split apart. Not sure why there is a problem. It can't be that hard to manufacture a little round bit of plastic- essentially a 10 cent washer with a fender logo.

Well I really don't like strap locks but I sure do love strap Blocks. Just put your strap on then these things and your good to go! Then you leave the strap on the guitar. They come off if you need them to, but why would you want to do that!
