I'd recommend having white or wood glue, round toothpicks, and some locktite on hand for installing any brand of strap locks and these are no exception.

Remove your old strap buttons. Cut a round toothpick to length so it fits flush in the strap button hole left in the body of your guitar/bass. Add some white/wood glue to the toothpick and drop it in the hole. Now screw your new strap button into place. The toothpick acts as a dowel and compresses against the screw for a stronger bond. The glue helps set everything in place and you never have to worry about the strap button working loose on its own. Add a bit of locktite to the threads of the strap lock and then tighten down the washer and nut to your strap. This ensures the nut doesn't work loose either.

Since you have to do this with all similar strap lock systems, I think this brand is the best value for the money.

Of course, you can also use the rubber grommets available from a certain beer with a ceramic top as strap locks. Then you get to enjoy a beverage that comes with a free strap lock :)

These came preinstalled on a new Fender Jazz bass, and have been a disappointment. I replaced the default nylon strap with a padded and wider Levys one. 2 things loosen and fall off regularly despite tightening repeatedly: (1) the little round balls at the end of the lock that you pull to unlock it. (2) the hex nut that attches the strap to the lock, esp the one closest to the neck. I treat my gear gently and with TLC, and do not swing my guitar around on stage. Replacing these asap....

Comments about Fender Strap Locks and Buttons Set:

This is my second set; I first used them on my (heavy) P-Bass, then got these for my Strat.
I put a small amount of light grease on the "stud" turns freely w/no squeaks.

Comments about Fender Strap Locks and Buttons Set:

These strap locks fit my strat perfectly without changing the buttons. One of the reasons I bought them was someone said they fit both strats and teles without changing the buttons. But the buttons on my thinline tele are different so they don't fit. I know I could change out the buttons but I like to keep everything stock so...

Comments about Fender Strap Locks and Buttons Set:

Have you ever put your guitar strap on quickly, only to stand up and have it come off your instrument? I have been playing for over 30 years and yes, this does happen.

I own two Fender instruments a Made is USA strat and an American Deluxe 5 string Bass. The combined retail value is close to $3K. I bought two of these, one for the guitar strap for each instrument. The strap locks work great. If you already own a Fender you may not need to change the existing strap posts in the guitar/bass. All I needed to do was add the strap lock to my guitar straps and I was done! These babies fit right over my existing Fender guitar posts. How easy is that!

If you own a Fender instrument, get these. Non Fender strap locks often use wood screws with different threads. Why risk damaging your expensive instrument? This is a no BRAINER for Fender owners. If you are like me, you may have spent thousands on your amp, pedals, guitars and other gear. This is the cheapest and best insurance you can buy for your axe. Just do it!
