I have two of these cases, but I have several Fender guitars, so I need a few more. I have some of the older molded plastic guitar cases, but I don't like them for two reasons, #1) they all have a strip of metal that goes around the edge of the case, which in an unguarded moment could 'ding' your guitar, #2) there is very little room in the accessories area of the case, not even enough room for a standard sized leather strap, and extra strings, string winder, polish cloth, and small bottle of mist and wipe. However, with the deluxe cases, those two issues become non-issues. The deluxe cases have no metal edges, and the accessories compartment is large enough for all the things I like to carry with me. The lining is gorgeous, as is the tolex on the exterior. If you order one of these cases, and the latches don't line up correctly, or they are excessively sticky, might I suggest that you call the people you bought it from and ask for an RMA number to return the defective case, and have them send you another. G&G are usually very good with their quality control, but no-one is infallible. I do love these cases, for their retro appeal, as well as their deluxe appointments, and if you are a Fender lover as I am, I am pretty sure you will love them too.

Maybe in its heyday these were THE cases to have. I bought one of their nice looking Fender branded tweed cases to protect a nice Strat I am lucky to own, and was shocked at the poor workmanship (studs not hammered in all the way, crooked name plates, pieces bent out of shape, etc.,).
I contacted G&G via email to let them know of my concerns regarding the poor quality. (I offered them an "out" thinking perhaps my case had been assebled poorly by Fender as a partner.) I heard nothing from them for weeks.When they finally responded, their correspondence was NOT very well written, in terms of professionalism, tone of customer service, or grammar; I felt like I was getting mobile texts from a teenage girl.I was basically asked to prove and provide photographic evidence. I did so gladly.Without any apology, G&G offered to replace my case, but they insisted that I pay for boxing it up and shipping it across the country to them. These are quite large and heavy pieces and it's not worth my time and money, as a mere average consumer, to ship it at a cost much higher than what a large company can afford to do. I suspect that they know this very well.It's a shame really that a USA company is taking this approach to "quality control" and customer satisfaction. Cheaper foreign imports are unfortunately improving their quality (and customer relations) to the point where it's hard to argue "Buy USA," especially if the quality of product and sevice is as poor as I've experienced. I recently bought some imported German guitar strings and the owner himself corresponded with me when I had a few break on me - sending me replacements for free all the way from Europe.This classic company may not last much longer if this is the trend. Very sad.

I don't travel much and want to take my guitar out ready to play. This case is PERFECT for me. It is classy and has the Fender tag and G-and-G tag inside which I like. I got the tweed and red and just ordered the brown and gold and my first one was pretty much flawless. The best thing of all is that I can leave my strap with strap locks ON my guitar in the case. I have two new deluxe American strats and the nice hard plastic cases that came with them don't have room for the strap! And they COME with strap locks! It really bugs me to take off and store the strap after each time I play. If I traveled frequently, I would want a tough, light-weight ugly plastic case. THIS is not that case. It is very distinguished looking, heavy and probably wouldn't look great for long being abused. That being said, if you want a regal setting for your prized axe that gives you a sense of satisfaction each time you flip open the latches, this case is the one.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Several major workomanship flaws were immediately noticeable. Both of the flip latches were bent and required an adjustment with pliers. It only took 30 seconds, but will certainly effect the longevity and stability of the hinges eventually. The black tweed has several holes the size of eraser heads and numerous pulls, strings, and poorly finished seams. I don't object to the "relic" look, but I prefer to do it myself over many years of use. Although I like having the Fender logo on my case, the last two G&G and two Fender Pro series have been very disappointing for the price I paid. CNB & Douglas make equal or better quality cases for less than half the price.

It's a beautiful case. It had a few tiny holes that I believe were manufactured by the equipment used in the case tweed material, but you can't see the holes unless you look very closely. Overall a beautiful piece of workmanship. I'm very happy with the case.

I bought one with the orange interior for my girlfriend's 1974 sunburst strat. The interior material is very beautiful with this instrument, and it appears to be exactly the same kind of sturdy case that came with these types of guitars.

I bought this Fender case because, well, it was the matching name brand to my Strat. The quality was not as high as I anticipated from the other reviews as well as the MSRP price point. There were a few rivets/nails sticking through the tweed on the exterior plus Strat didn't fit well inside case at the neck/headstock support... I had to reform a portion of the body support in order for the neck to be properly positioned at the neck/headstock support. Overall, a decent case, but it did NOT meet the expectations I have for a Fender branded product.

Tweed with Red Interior******* Important to note, This case may show as "Black tweed with red interior" on your MF account order summary. When I called to order this case the first time MF took my order and all seemed well until I checked my account where it listed the item description as "Black Tweed with Red Interior". I called back and they said that the "Tweed with Red interior" was no longer available so my order was automatically updated to this model. It turns out the G&G doesn't make a "Black Tweed with Red interior" case, a fact that we uncovered on my fourth call to MF! The rep said that he assumed that the "Black Tweed with Red interior" was indeed the tan tweed that I wanted. It was!
Good case overall, my strat fits well, I needed to compress some of the foam near the head stock and at the strap button. Mine came with some imperfections in the tweed, they were small but they could be seen in three spots, it looked like the material had been caught on something and pulled in one place and it looks like small pin holes in the other two. I'm sure I'll add to those in no time so not really a big deal. The inner lining red material is okay and seems like it will hold up, I was a little disappointed with the underlying padding though, it feels a bit cheesy, something like regular styrofoam that a computer would be packed in for shipping, we'll see! All the latches and hinges were installed well and function perfectly, though the fender label under the handle is a bit off kilter, again not something I really care about. Overall a really nice case that I would buy again, especially if it is on sale.

I would have returned this product if not for the inconvenience, and hassle. The lid on this Fender case did not mate properly when closing. I had to make an impact adjustment to make the latch line up right. The hardware looks pretty, but it's not quality. There was no indication the product passed a factory inspection, and no indication what country it was manufactured in. I expected more from Fender.
