Designed to plug in between your axe and amp, the Fishman Pro-EQ Bass Preamp provides feedback control, photo-optic compression, 5 bands of EQ, and XLR direct out with ground lift, and tuner/send output. 3 midrange bands plus bass and treble are optimized for the electric or upright bass and easily dial out runaway frequencies. The bass slider's range is 30-275Hz which lets you precisely tweak G-string tone. Feedback can also be controlled with Depth and Phase switches. Ergonomically shaped with rubber feet to keep the unit from wandering. Operates on 9V battery or optional AC adapter.

I bought it to improve the signal of and old electric upright bass manufactured in the 60's. I never thought the powerful this pre-amp could be. The sound I get now has nothing to envy to the most powerful (active pickup) electric bass in the market.

If you are using a piezo transducer this preamp allows you to get a variety of useful sounds. I use this through a headphone amp and I hear hiss if I boost the higher frequencies, but the depth control and the compressor add some nice tones to a decent quality piezo transducer. I find the color it adds to a piezo transducer to be more dramatic than when it's used with a single coil pickup.

I've had this preamp about a year now, and no problems yet. I was looking to get a preamp to tweak my sound enough to sound like Tool. I didn't quite get what I wanted out of it, but I have since changed my mind about the sound I want. I bought this for the wrong reason, but it turns out I got a sound I like way better.

This thing will bring the tone you are searching for, period. My bass sounds amazing thru my SWR workingman's 15 and everyone wants to know my secret. I tell 'em it's in the fingers... haha. It's the Fishman! Direct to tape is even better... best money spent, and I've spent a lot.
