I recieved the FRMS1 mandolin stand and, upon trying it, was impressed with it's simplicity and functionality. It is made of steel tubing that is finished a nice satiny black. I unfolded the legs and they are just tight enough to hold thier position. What is normally the neck rest on a standard guitar stand top center post is a hanger on this stand. How cool is that? The hanger is nicely padded with padded rings to hold the neck securely. There is a small T shaped rest that folds out from the bottom half center post that is well padded and keeps the instrument from hitting the center post. All in all a very simple and functional design that does it's job very well. I am very pleased with this product and the price, as usual with Musician's Friend, was less than one would pay expect for this quality
Having the instrument hang is definitely a plus.
It's not bullet proof stainless but it's well made and well worth the money.
.You can't beat it for the price!

Pretty good design idea but the manufacturing quality is lame. U-channel in top piece is not square to the front of the stand so the mandolin does not rest correctly on the body support. Annoyingly visual failure makes one feel ripped off everytime you look at it. Attempts to solve the issue were not successful.

Do yourself a favor and spend a little more. Get a stand from a mfgr with a higher degree of quality control in their manufacturing process.

Comments about FretRest by Proline FRMS1 Mandolin/Uke Stand:

Liked this stand so much, I ordered a second one so I could have two of my ukes handy for playing and display. Very sturdy and well made. Holds the instruments securely. The picture does not do it justice, as you can't really tell the width of the padded crosspiece that folds down, supporting the back of the instrument. The only drawback, if you can call it that, is that no travel pouch is included. However, that is a minor point and would add to the cost, which is very reasonable. Overall, very happy with this purchase!

I just received this stand and was a bit concerned by one of the reviews, but it was a great buy. Holds my F-style perfectly, folds easily and is very stable for being so light. Even holds my fiddle.

This was exactly what I wanted. I love it! The legs are long, so it's very stable and the pads are very easy on my ukulele. Very padded. It's a little big for my soprano Lanikai ukulele. It's set on the shortest possible way, but it's still just a little big.
Also it came a little bent, but I fixed that easily.

Perfect for a slightly larger instrument. Great for my soprano!

Comments about FretRest by Proline FRMS1 Mandolin/Uke Stand:

Bought this to have my uke out where I can just grab it and play. Seems well made. No alignment problems. Folds up compactly, but no bag included.
A bit large for a soprano uke, but fine for a concert or tenor. The neck adjusts for different size instruments, but the support bar doesn't. Long legs make it stable.
The stand doesn't 'cradle' the bottom of the instrument like a guitar stand. Instead, a bar holds the back of the instrument out away from the stand and the instrument is supported by the neck, like those wall hanger thingies. This may be an issue if you have marauding pets.
Overall, I'm pleased with it, and may be buying another.

I bought two of these when they went on sale and I am really happy with them. I was looking for a sturdy inexpensive stand that I could put my ukulele and mandolin in my "man cave" with my other guitars. None of the instruments I wanted to use stands for are very expensive, so I didn't want to spend as half as much on a stand as I did on my ukulele. Even if I had more expensive instruments I would feel comfortable using these stands. They are sturdy, adjustable and work great.
