Simple, easy and effective

I have a few of these laying around the house and in ten years never had an issue with them. They do what they are meant to do... cradle your guitar.

Having had these same units for 10 years now I can say that they self destruct in the "ankle" where the vertical brace meets the feet. 10 years for the price isn't bad, but when a fellow musician comes over with a vintage guitar and it falls off the stand due to the plastic "ankle" they may be more expensive than you want to look at.That said, there's always the "10 years" statement, wherein I've never had a problem. But I've had two of the six fail within a two or three week period, dropping one of my Strats and my SG onto a concrete floor. As long as you're ok with a ten year life cycle (or less), then the price is right and it always works right until it doesn't. I'm not sure about what the surprise factor weighting should be.My cheapest guitar stands have lasted for 20 years without problems and I can no longer find them for purchase.

Comments about FretRest by Proline HT1010 Guitar Stand:

This is the stand you expect to get when you are shopping for one. It is far better than the lower cost options: it is beefier, far more stable and holds what you put on it securely. I also have the budget version which can be had for a quarter of the cost. This model is worth it. A bass guitar on the budget stand will be headed towards the floor if anything touches it. Not so with the Fretrest. They look similar in pictures, but side by side there is NO comparison.

Very well made, the tubing used to make this stand has a larger O.D. than the others I own. The back leg is a little longer making this stand more stable. It's worth the extra money. Highly recommend.

Instead of a review on the product, which is an excellent stand and does exactly what I need it to do, I'd like to tell everyone how much I appreciate the staff at Musician's Friend for always working with me to ensure I get the best price on the equipment I am purchasing. Their staff is always friendly and patient with me, as I sometimes need assistance prior to purchasing the equipment. So, thank you all at Musician's Friend for all you do for your customers. It is greatly appreciated!

You can buy 2 guitar stands for less than this one costs, but beware. Those "bargain" stands aren't such bargains after all. They're made of smaller tubing. They are also not as tall. Worst of all, their legs are significantly shorter, which makes them less stable. They're okay for child-sized guitars but not for anything full-sized. A sturdy stand like this one is worth the extra money.
