I use this case with my double horn. It's very strong, yet still lightwieght. Only problem I had was the seam for the arm strap on the front of the horn started to let go. Still an excellent case for any player.
I found nothing defective with the French horn Gator GL case; It was indeed a good case. My problem with it was that it was too big for my horn. I play a Holton Merker-Matic H176, the wrap of which was about two to three inches too small for the case. I was unable to use it.
I appreciate the strap and light weight of the Gator GL Lightweight French Horn Case that allow me to carry my horn on my shoulder and still feel it's pretty safe from damage in normal situations. The exterior pockets and elastic are adequate for tuner, oil, etc. as well as a music folder. The interior accessory slot is perfect for a pair of glasses, a tuner, oil, etc. and there are 2 holes for mouthpieces. There's one thing I'd tell Gator to change. The harsh angle over the bell makes it tough for the zipper to work easily. I thought I might have to return the case and find something else but ended up taking out some screws in order to pull back the outer nylon cover revealing a thin plywood layer under the fuzzy liner in that area. Once I removed that and put things back together it's easy to zip the case. If they could make it an inch or two narrower (less bulky)that would also be a plus, but it's a big improvement over my 10# Holton case.
