Nice, snug fit for full-size violin. Interior is very plush, so much so that the pile might be too deep for one's preference. Handle is made from a folded sheet of the case nylon wrapped around a strap... rather unpleasurable. Double outside pocket is cute but not large enough for 8.5x11 paper to lay flat. I was willing to put up with all these shortcomings until I discovered that neither one of my full-size bows fit into the bow compartments. I would have to bend the bows to get them to fit.
Good case when the price is right, but it has a couple issues. The bow fit is very tight. The twist lock has sharp edges and sliced off several bow hairs until I took it off and filed off the sharpness. Also, the restraining strap between the top and bottom is exactly in the way of putting the bow in or out of the case in a most annoying way.The case has poor balance when opened up. When the violin is out, or when the exterior pocket has almost anything in it, the case is top heavy. The result is it will not sit flat on the bottom when open. It flops back to where the top and bottom are both in the air, balanced on the open hinge side of the case. This is most annoying. If you can tolerate these things, it is otherwise a well built case, just not well engineered.
I got this case for my birthday. I wasn't too impressed with the exterior appearance because I wanted a hardshell case, but it isn't awful, although the pocket for sheet music doesn't fit most paper. The interior had everything I'm used to (two bow holders, place to store things like a tuner and rosin, ect...) and it has a very plush interior. There is something that lies on the tailpiece and the fingerboard and I'm not too comfortable closing the case all the way for fear that it will break the instrument. My bow did fit, but it was an extremely tight fit and the thing that locks the bow in place doesn't turn all when the bow is in the position. Overall, if it didn't have these problems, it would be an excellent case.
I like everything about the case except for the bow holders; they have a very tight fit and the knob to hold the bow catches on the bow. If the bow section had worked I would've been totally satisfied with this case but I can't use a case that damages my bows.
