This may not be the best case on the market, but for the price it sure is. This case blows away anything else in its price range. For the most part, this case is very durable. The valance is very sturdy. My favorite feature of this case is the twist-latches, they (unlike regular latches) will not come undone if they get bumped in the cargo hold of a plane, you actually need to try to open them in order to undo them. There are 2 problems i noticed with my case (but neither are big problems, im just picky. First off, there is a 1/16" gap between the valance at the headstock end of the case (but thats probably not a standard problem, just my case). Second, the sheet metal by the handle is the weakest part of the case and i always worry if it will fall off or not during a flight. Make sure to cover your strings with some sort of cloth or else the case will discolor your strings (although it doesnt mess with the tone). This case has been through 8 flights and only has 2 minor scratches on it, it has done its job perfectly. If you want a flight-safe case and do not want to spend a fortune, this is the case for you!

I bought this case because I travel a lot overseas. However after one flight, the case no longer closes all the way...there is a gap when the case is sealed and it is easy for air and water to get inside. The case isn't very sturdy and already has a crack on the corner after traveling in the car. I take very good of my guitar so I was very dissapointed when I received this case and found it to be defective. It is not worth the money.

I bought this case for a trip to Utah. My guitar made it from San Antonio to Salt Lake and back in one piece without any problems. My only negative observation is that the valence could close tighter. I chose a midrange Martin for the trip. I don't think I'd ship a high end guitar in it -- not because the case couldn't handle it -- but you never know when a baggage handler might run over it. I've seen it happen! I rated the case a 10 overall because you can't beat it for the price. Not fancy but it did what I needed it to do. I'm sure I'll get more travel use out of it in the future.

An Honest

I have to totally agree with MOST FOR YOUR BUCK ABOVE. I have a Taylor 410CE and three days after purchase the latches were torn off by the airline. I read the reviews from here and decided to take a chance. I've just yestarday returned from a trip to Ca from Fa and the case held up excellently. This case will give you more Bang for your Buck than any other.

1st use; Problem, then no problem. Thanks, Gator!!

Within a week of receiving my Gator Dread ATA style case, off we go into the blue yonder. On the outbound trip, was allowed to bring aboard as carryon. Return trip had to check. In San Francisco, case was opened by TSA. Apparently had problem with center latch, so cut out the latch, rendering it useless. I did not lock the case. My treasured accoustical guitar was not damaged. They referred me to Gator. I filled out their online warranty claim form, and the case was replaced without question. Sent me a new one and return labels and box for return of original. Way to go Gator!!! Case worked great, Gator company rocks! Never used any other case of this type, so can't compare.

I bought this case back when it first came out a couple of years ago with the intention to use it for air travel.I own a vintage D-28 Martin and will probably never trust this case to transport the guitar on an airline. The case has a slight gap near the headstock where water, dust, etc can enter. Also, I did my own test and pushed hard on the case exterior and believe that if a guitar were inside....damage would occur because I am able to push and indent far enough to where the guitar top would or could crack or break. Its a good case otherwise but NOT for air travel.

Very Solid Global Case

By bortsky

from Atlanta, GA

I've taken this case back and forth across the pond from Atlanta to Europe, and it's traveled intra-Europe between Germany, The Netherlands, and the UK many many times. In terms of value, it's an excellent ATA case that has suffered a lot of abuse and still keeps ticking. I would recommend this case to anyone. Plenty of internal storage to hold cables, tuners, capos, you name it.Great case, and no regrets.

My guitar didn't fit....

This case won't fit my Epiphone Hummingbird, the case is too short. Not to mention the headstock doesn't completely shut when latched, even with nothing in the case. It is still open enough for water to get in. I travel full-time, so I had to return this case.

Solid case to cradle the rig..

By pastordisaster

from Denver CO

My Breedlove was a tight fit, but it holds it with gentleness and protection! this case is sturdy, love the soft handle and decent sized compartment inside. Latches are good, and it does travel around well. For keeping your acoustic dream safe on the road or in the air, this one will get it done!

I think that the gator ata cases is worth every penny. At the discounted price you would be dumb not to buy it at least if you plan on traveling by plane.
