First of all I was going to wait for about a month of use before writing a review, but I have decided to do it now. I have been a firm user of Ernie Ball Regular Slinky's since I started playing 16 years ago, and regardless of the brands I have tried out since, I alway go back to the Slinky's. The Slinky's are good strings, but have a small window of tone quality before the tone rapidly wears out of them. The Slinky's have never broken on me either. I can see why they are good performance strings, but you would have to change your strings every performance. In my current state of playing guitar I perform weekly, but also practice a lot and record often, and don't usually justify getting any less than a month out of a set of strings. Gilmour has been a hero to me for some time, so I tried these strings, hoping to find the improvements in tone that I have been looking for. I was a little skeptical about changing my gauge settings from Regular Slinkys to these, but I have to say just after putting them on, they feel right, and sound way better than the Slinkys on a good day. Intonation hasn't been adjusted yet, but they still sustain great and ring very clean. The slightly thicker bottom end reduced fret buzz as well. I am going on other reviews as to the longevity of the strings and don't see why they wouldn't considering the difference already. These are perfect on a strat, Gilmour knows best.

I normally use D'Addario EXL's 10's but have 11's on a practice guitar and liked the girth of the heavier low strings but wanted the lighter top. Other players use hybrid sets and I haven't used GHS since the 80's so I thought I'd give them a whirl. What I first noticed was acoustically it didn't sound as bright and the bending wasn't as good as a straight set of D'A 10's. I thought maybe it was me so I tried them at two rehearsals. They are darker than either the D'A.. 10's or 11's on my other strats. Worse was the guitar went out of tune constantly. I found the G string to be unwinding at the ball after I took them off. Reminds me of the old days when I used to solder all the plain string ball windings before a restring. I won't be using them. YMMV

This is the (BLUE) gauge I've sworn by since they were first offered. In service on all my Gibsons since I tune down a half-step. Try them; you'll like them!

These are without a doubt, the very best strings I have ever used. Great sound, feel, long lasting and stay in tune. The string diameter ratio is the best for Rock-n-roll or blues playing. I will continue buying these for life.

Comments about GHS David Gilmour Signature Blue Set Electric Guitar Strings:

First off, I didn't buy these because of Mr. Gilmour. In fact, I typically use EBs, Fender, or D'adarrio and have had good experience with all of them. I've bounced around trying to find the best tone and gauges for my style (alt. country, blues, roots rock). I mostly play Telecasters and don't like the tone from an unwound 17 or above on the g string, but I like have 48-50 on the low E. I was always switching out individual strings to find the best gauges for me. The Gilmour strings are just right for me straight out of the box, but best of all, they seem really strong, keep the snappy tone, and stay in tune. Oh yeah, they're in the right price range. Definitely worth a shot.

These are the nicest, longest-lasting, and over-all greatest guitar strings I have ever put on. The tone is fabulous, and they pretty much always stay in tune, and so I HIGHLY recommend them for your Strat

Honestly, try these out. The worst that will happen is you'll be out a few dollars.Right off the bat, I found these strings to be a little harder to play on than Ernie Balls, but after about a few hours of play time they seemed to soften up. They're also a little tougher than EBs; they won't break as easily. The tone and sustain is pretty much as big an improvement as you can get from changing strings, and they sound new after hours of play time.
