Good sound but short life

I can't believe that Doyle really uses these, given his aggressive style - he would be replacing them constantly. The winding on the bass strings frayed at each of the first 4 fret positions after only 4 hours of play. The G string almost disintegrated at that point. I'm not a rough player either. I'm going back to D'Addario Pro Arte.
