First of all I was going to wait for about a month of use before writing a review, but I have decided to do it now. I have been a firm user of Ernie Ball Regular Slinky's since I started playing 16 years ago, and regardless of the brands I have tried out since, I alway go back to the Slinky's. The Slinky's are good strings, but have a small window of tone quality before the tone rapidly wears out of them. The Slinky's have never broken on me either. I can see why they are good performance strings, but you would have to change your strings every performance. In my current state of playing guitar I perform weekly, but also practice a lot and record often, and don't usually justify getting any less than a month out of a set of strings. Gilmour has been a hero to me for some time, so I tried these strings, hoping to find the improvements in tone that I have been looking for. I was a little skeptical about changing my gauge settings from Regular Slinkys to these, but I have to say just after putting them on, they feel right, and sound way better than the Slinkys on a good day. Intonation hasn't been adjusted yet, but they still sustain great and ring very clean. The slightly thicker bottom end reduced fret buzz as well. I am going on other reviews as to the longevity of the strings and don't see why they wouldn't considering the difference already. These are perfect on a strat, Gilmour knows best.

I bought/tried 2 sets - one for a Mex Strat and other for Ovation Acoustic/Electric I play the most. While stringing the high E snapped with normal stretching. Plus they have gone out of tune constantly (which I never have a problem with - over 50 yrs playing guitar). Now I don't have a compete set for the Strat. However, all in all the strings sound GREAT! Wished they would have worked but after 4 days I have already purchased more Super Slinky's . Too bad.

I would use Musicians Friend again and recommend them

Comments about GHS GB-DGF David Gilmour Signature Blue Set Electric Guitar Strings:

My main guitar is a PRS and I play mostly Gilmour solos, some Santana and Gary Moore. However, I have always used 10-46 Elixir strings, brilliant but could never get the nice bass notes of Gilmour. A friend who tours with a PF Tribute Band uses the Gilmour blue strings which have heavier gauge bass strings and suggested I try them. So I bought some and they are fantastic. Living in New Zealand I couldn't get them locally and was a little reticent in buying on-line but can't fault the service I received. Strings arrived within a few days and the after sales service has been excellent. Thoroughly recommend Musicians Friend and of course the DG strings for those Gilmour players out there

Comments about GHS GB-DGF David Gilmour Signature Blue Set Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings are just plain awesome on a strat. Very smart thinking by Gilmour (I wouldn't expect anything less) and let me say why: these "weird" gauges cure some of the inherent problems of your average stratocaster. Not enough bass? You got extra heavy on the E A D... Are your B and G strings too loud and hard to bend more than a step? You got light gauge on those... Is your high E kinda thin? You get regular gauge... When you put it all together it just sounds more balanced and together. These strings last a good while. I cringe at the thought of going back to 10's even though I love them on my tele. Like I said, these strings are meant to make a strat sound great. Mine is a '08 Am Standard and it loves these strings.

Comments about GHS GB-DGF David Gilmour Signature Blue Set Electric Guitar Strings:

I have been using GHS strings for over 20 years and I never had a string break on me. I decided to try the David Gilmore stings because of the lighter gauge "G"sting size.

When I re-string my guitars, I always stretch my new stings, then tune, then stretch again, retune, stretch and retune until they are stretched enough to stay in tune.

During my installation of the new David Gilmore Strings, the high E string broke during the first stretch. (And I wasn't even tugging on it that hard). That was the first time that has ever happened....I am sticking with the traditional GHS strings, the DGF strings are clearly inferior and not made as well.

Comments about GHS GB-DGF David Gilmour Signature Blue Set Electric Guitar Strings:

I usually use .10s on the Hendrix guitars and drop tune to Eb. I was interested in these strings because they are somewhere between light and heavy guages and could also use them for standard pitch (E). When I changed over I had to reset the action, re-intonate (expected) and re-set floating tremo block (surprising). At first these strings seemed unbalanced, but once that was done, the strings were great. This set has a heavier 1st string and (way) heavier 6th string, and lighter middle strings. Perfect for tone and 1-1/2 bends. Now you seen how David Gilmour does it!
