I broke a string today, a GBM high "E." I put these on my Maestro SC in June of last year, but from argument's sake, we'll call it 1 July 2012. Conservatively, I'd say I play about thirty minutes in an average day, and I detune, retune, thrash, tap, leave my guitar out of its case at all times in varying temperatures and humidity...I'm pretty much a guitar tech's worst nightmare. That said, let's do the math: half-hour a day, 184 days, that would be 92 hours of playing I put these things through. The other five have held the ringing bite they had over half a year ago, and I've run them into the ground. I'm ordering more immediately after I submit this, as should anyone who wants gorgeous-sounding, resilient, inexpensive strings.

Ok, so my previous set of strings on my SG were Elixers(nanoweb)Light gauge (a little weird for thrash metal) so I headed to a music shop after my high E snapped and I was looking for Elixers in Med. gauge but it turned out that they didn't have any so Mr. Employee tells me to try out these ghs boomers only 5$ he says opposed to 11$ for the Elixers. Hesitantly I accept I get home play for about an hour (some metal) wipe the strings down with a clean cloth, sleep, go to school, come back, take my guitar out of its case, begin to play and I notice it feels funny on the D and B strings, turns out they've both rusted in 2 separate places on the strings, I estimate they will have a maximum life of about a week before I have to change them. I take care of my strings My old Elixers(nanoweb) lasted 4 MONTHS! and never rusted. on the pro side I was impressed with the "Metal" sound I got from the boomers (because of gauge change?") but they love to make that noise when you slide a powerchord up and down the fretboard which gets annoying and the Elixers don't do that. Tread carefully if you consider buying these.

Comments about GHS GBM Boomers Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings actually do give a slight but noticable increase in sound. not particulary long lasting but about average for uncoated strings.

Comments about GHS GBM Boomers Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

Used a different brand/size when I first started years ago (by recomendation). Remembered I found this size to be much easier for me and bought them for my son to learn on. He is enjoying them very much. He has since started trying to learn by ear how to pick up notes from songs and is progressing well. I have a feeling he will stay with these strings for quite a while.

Comments about GHS GBM Boomers Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

Overall, these strings sound fine. Decent tone and good brightness. However, they have corrosion spots on them right out of a sealed pack. They also seem to stretch forever. I've been constantly returning for the past week and just now getting to the point where they seem to be settling down and keeping tune.

These strings are a perfect example of perfect set of strings time after time. They produce the most output I have ever heard in my opinion. I have tried the cobalts and diff brands to compare and nothing matches the big boom sound of GHS Boomers. These strings are perfect for Rock and Blues. Go out today and try a set. Trust me you wont regret it:)

Comments about GHS GBM Boomers Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

I used many brands until 10 years ago I started using Boomers.I play different styles of music from blues to metal, and no string seems to hold it's brilliant tone as long as these do. I am rough on strings and sweat big-time..... I get lazy and play 5 gigs (as well as all the rehearsal) with them before I start calling the current set my "lucky" strings and make plans to change them.. You can't go wrong with Boomers.

Comments about GHS GBM Boomers Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

I bought these strings when I first began pursuing heavier tones and still use them after much experimenting. These strings will take a beating and still scream for you. I use them on my 24 frett ESP LTD AX360 and love them.

One concern is that with these heavier gauge strings you may need to adjust your intonation to allow your strigns to properly intonate. Heavy gauge strings aren't right for all guitars. for example I would never put these on my 22 frett ibanez s-series. Generally longer necks and higher action is better for heavier strings.

                Cheers! Keep shredding
