I recently bought these, and while I do think they have bright, booming tone, I believe I may have gotten a dud in the mix. I've got about 2-3 hours on them, and while the rest of the strings still sound very bright and full, the .115 is now dull and dead. Unplugged, it is barely audible, and plugged in, it doesn't keep up at all with the rest of the strings.

I don't think these are bad strings, though. And all the good reviews seem to suggest I just got a bad set. The tapered ends and the wraps around them make them much easier to string, especially on smaller tuning pegs. Would buy again if I could be guaranteed better QC.

Comments about GHS H3045 Heavy Gauge Bass Boomers Bass Strings:

With having two projects going, and one using d-g-c-f tuning, thought I would try the heavy gauge strings on a recent pawnshop purchased 1993 mim fender jazz. I don't know what gauge the old strings were, but I knew they were too light. After putting the new strings on, a few cranks on the truss rod, and setting the intonation it sounds amazing Always did like GHS strings anyway.

Comments about GHS H3045 Heavy Gauge Bass Boomers Bass Strings:

I wanted to switch from Rotosound strings for a little while. Theyre too twangy and didnt have enough punch. Theyre good for classic rock and funk but not so great for metalcore and deathcore. These strings solved this problem. It's very deep and powerful. I like having a lot of bass and these strings are perfect. For my band I play in Drop C and B with everything else a step down but I can tell already that i could easily tune these to like drop G# or G if I wanted to. Overall these strings have SO MUCH BEEF!!

Comments about GHS H3045 Heavy Gauge Bass Boomers Bass Strings:

These strings are heavy and hefty, but they just don?t merely thump. They have a great bright tone, with brilliant resonate highs, and of course loping thunderous lows. The red coating at the tips of the strings helps to eliminate tuning issues due to slippage at the tuning machines. They really augment the tone in a rig and have great sustain and are rather bendable for being so thick. They sound great regardless if you pluck, pick, or slap.

Comments about GHS H3045 Heavy Gauge Bass Boomers Bass Strings:

There is a reason that so many bass gods use these. I have used so many different brand and gauge strings searching for my sound and these are it. No other brand can give me the low end punch that a heavy metal bassist needs without losing a bunch of top end. These deliver. Up until I bought these, I assumed i was going to have to settle for less. I was wrong and I'll never use another type of bass string again.

Comments about GHS H3045 Heavy Gauge Bass Boomers Bass Strings:

I play in C, and I thought it was nice at first not having to buy a 5 string set and throw away the extra string. But after a week or so I noticed my tone was TERRIBLE. They boom alright. There is little to no definition of key on the entire C string. It's all sound, no tone. These are the worst sounding strings I have played to date. I plan on buying the DR DDT strings asap as a replacement.

Comments about GHS H3045 Heavy Gauge Bass Boomers Bass Strings:

These strings sound really good, but they don't last long at all. This was the first set I used, and might be the last. They cost as much as Ernie Balls, and the Ernie Balls last longer. But make no mistake, these do sound good. I could make it sound like I was using a pick while playing with my fingers. But unless you like changing your strings every 4 months or so, they are for you. PS: Pick players shouldn't get them. They don't sound good with a pick.

I've been playing these for years now, and they've never failed me once. Very bright and thumpy. Will make any bass sound good. And they last for 3-4 months unless you're a string changing nazi. I play in D G C F and it feels the same as standard.

This are some of the best strings I have played! The punch is amazing and it has great tone. I like to down tune mine to drop D and C. There is no fret buzz and it sounds GREAT! My only complaint is that they are a little to bright for my liking!

            Warmest and Best Sounding String

            By Bassguy-OpWXW

            from Camden, AR

Comments about GHS H3045 Heavy Gauge Bass Boomers Bass Strings:

I've played all the "Best Selling, Top Quality" strings (Ernie Ball, Dean Markley, etc.) These are in my opinion, the most full, warmest, and all-around best sounding string. In terms of how long these strings last, from my personal experience, these strings last longer than the Dean Markleys, and just as long as the Ernie Balls, and I play EXTENSIVELY. In terms of sound quality the GHS's are ahead of the other two by far. If you play low tuned music (my band plays in Drop C and sometimes in Drop B), fret buzz is a major concern. These gauges are perfect for drop tuning. I never had any fret buzz whatsoever, even in Drop B. The only time you get anything close to a fret buzz is when your playing fast opens on the low string and even then you just get a small tapping sound, and in my opinion makes it sound better. The second you play that low string on your bass and you here and feel that warm tone radiating from your amp, you will congratulate yourself for buying these strings.

I had my boomers for about 4 months and my strings started breaking so I went and got more. This has happened multiple times and I'm not very impressed with the product. I have had Ernie Ball strings since then and they have lived beyond what my 3 packages of GHS bass boomers have.

I play a vintage Kramer Focus 7000 4 string bass. I only like to use high-quality strings. I have tried others but when I tried these I knew that nothing could beat em'. I recommend these strings to all bassists who love that nice heavy tone.

I do not like thse strings, they have a lame sound. I bought these because they are a big gauge and I wanted a punchier sound, but they just put out a lame sound. I switched to ernieball powers and those sound much better. I know everyone likes a different sound but thats my opinion and I wouldn't recommend them.

GREAT for playing in tunings lower than standard. The heavy gauges provide a deep, warm tone in your lower register while providing a bright and punchy higher register. Not too bright, and not too flat. Perfect. I've NEVER broken a GHS string, either--in over a year's use.

I've been playing bass since the days when you could buy only flat wound strings(35yrs).I've got 3045's on all 6 of my 4 strings and I love em. They last forever, don't break, and sound heavy and clean. Take it from a guy who's tried everything, these are great strings.
