I started experimenting with different strings on the market back in the 80's when the round wounds were the fad. I tried GHS, DHR, Ernie Balls, and D'Addarios. All were nice and appeared to have the good sound and durability. I gravitated to the GHS as my alternative to Fender because they were the best fit and comparable price. There were no downsides to any of the mentioned strings. One one occasion, I recall I received a set that had a dead D string so I contacted the GHS people and they replaced it right away no questions asked.

I restrung my old SR500 with a set of these, and they were okay. I am VERY glad I had two sets though, the E-string on the first set popped during tune up, and I wasn't even close to tight. So I am knocking their quality because this simply should not happen during install of new strings. They sound WAY too bright for the first couple of hours play time. Just play these things, they even up after a few. Remember your first hour or so you are trying to get the string to settle in... After the first retune they sound great. Especially with my EMGs... Want to try out the DR Black Beauties next, but the GHS sound fine.

Greatest Strings EVER!!!

By The INC. Bassist

Comments about GHS M3045 Bass Boomers Medium Electric Bass Strings:

These strings are by far the best ones I have ever used. I've tried loads of different strings and Boomers are now the only ones I will use. The tone you get from them is amazing and the feel on the fretboard is wonderful. I recommend these for any other bassist.

Great Product, Best strings I've ever used

Comments about GHS M3045 Bass Boomers Medium Electric Bass Strings:

The tone provided by these strings on my Jazz Bass w/ rosewood fingerboard is amazing. Many people may complain that these strings don't stay bright but that's just a matter of taste. These things mellow out nicely for use with any musical style, even more aggressive bass lines can get some real growl with these strings ... EVEN IF THEY DON'T SOUND LIKE TIN ... If you want a real bass sound that compliments the tone of your bass, these are the strings to use.I've run through countless brands of strings and this is the only reliable brand as far as string breakage is concerned.

Comments about GHS M3045 Bass Boomers Medium Electric Bass Strings:

I used to use Ernie Balls strings and they would lose a lot of life after the first week of use. By the end of a two week tour, they're dead. These are quite better for how long they stay fresh and don't dull out.

Well I bought these because I'd thought I had ordered piccolo bass strings (lol). Silly me. At any rate, I love GHS strings for my guitar, so I no doubt love 'em for my bass. Love the way these things sound. Give my old Squier II P-Bass a nice shiny sound (even for a P-Bass!).

When I first got my bass, It had crappy stock SIT's. So soon after, I replaced them with the GHS Bass Boomers. Just stretch them out for a day or two, and you'll have no problems. Pretty well priced, and long lasting. Definitely recommended.

              don't intonate well

              By bestfor33

              from Weedsport, NY

Comments about GHS M3045 Bass Boomers Medium Electric Bass Strings:

great tone, punch, feel and not too bright. I have mainly used stainless steel strings, but since the purchase of a new bass, I immediately noticed the hairline gouges the strings were making on the frets. So, to protect my investment I wanted to switch to nickel strings. These strings are so smooth on the frets and fingers and are very comfortable to play. I do like their sound and growl, but my only complaint is they do not intonate very well and I'm very particular about my set-up and being in tune, so I'll have to pass on GHS in my new quest for a nickel string that works for me.

I just put these on my Squier P-Bass, and I can't really write much about them. They sound a little tinny, but all guitar strings do when they're brand new. I've read great reviews about them, and hope I'll have good results! Buy Them!

Comments about GHS M3045 Bass Boomers Medium Electric Bass Strings:

in the long run of things these are overall decent strings. The flaw that i have found in them is that when i 1st put them on the d string sounded less lively then the other strings but after a while of play it became unnoticeable. The major problem is that the g-string is not very cabable of sustaining much punishment. A lot of people say they last a while but for slap and pop techinique players the g-string is very vulneranable, which is natural due to the intense power that it demonstrates. -keep on plucking the beat from your soul-

These strings do what most barely are able to: stay in tune. I left my acoustic in the garage for three months, picked it up, and they were still in tune. Kind of amazing considering how humid it gets in there (then again, it is a gibson, so....) i was still amazed at the strings. Good job GHS!!!

I bought these hoping for great sound. At 1st they were super bright, after a little play they went straight to muddy junk. They got spongey in a hurry. These strings are extremely over-rated, over-priced, and dissapointing.

Comments about GHS M3045 Bass Boomers Medium Electric Bass Strings:

I've only used Fenders, Ernie Balls, and GHS, in my 10 years, and I stick to GHS now. I think bass guitar strings are unnecessarily overpriced across the board, so I can't really give a great 'value' rating. These strings go for a while, and allow most bass guitars to show their mid to super-low frequencies after several weeks' use. If you want a lot of tinny brightness, go with light Fenders.
