I was expecting a subtle increase in click/punch. The change is dramatic. LOTS of click. I like it, but switched from a plastic beater to felt again since this "click pad" adds a lot of click. Also noticeable deadens beater head, which is probably a plus for everything but Jazz. I removed a moon gel as well as a blanket from inside. I wish I'd sampled it before and after. All in all I like it. This is based on my opinion as a music producer as I'm no pro drummer. You can hear every hit distinctively now as the human ear picks up the high pitched click easier than the normal low pitched kick drum sound. My kick now sounds like the kick on Lorde's "Team", which is what I wanted. You can always not mic the beater head if you want less click; you can't always get more click from a normal kick drum. I give it five stars, but be warned it is a noticeable change and not terribly easy to reverse. /iheartit

Guys I cracked mine open. It sounded great, stuck well enough. After about 3 months I looked down and the housing that holds the disc inside was cracked open (at the place of impact). I don't see anyone else posting this problem, so if you're the kind of drummer that breaks stuff differently than other drummers: beware of this and buy either two or a differnt kind of other one for a back up.

Great Pad!

By Jason-Tirta

Comments about Gibraltar Single Bass Drum Impact Pad:

1) I have used several impact pads, and this IS by far the best yet. I tried the Danmar Metal Kick (to hard, broke a beater shaft).2) It does not really accentuate the attack if you are using a felt beater. Use plastic or wood.3) The material inside IS NOT METAL. It is a type of composite plastic...very very durable. I have two singles on my show kit, and a double on my practice kit.In short... I would HIGHLY recommend these to anyone that desires more attack from their bass drum.

Been playing classic rock for 30 years, a J. Bonham fanatic, and I use this to enhance the sound and speed of the pedal and head. Amazing difference! Faster doubles and triplets with real punch!

Comments about Gibraltar Single Bass Drum Impact Pad:

I bought this because it was cheap and i wanted more of a thud sound on my bass drum. After using this for 3 months, I have decided that this was a no-brainer. The sound quality of my bass drum has improved. The pad is still firmly attached. The price was extremely cheap. The only bad thing is that my wooden beater has some black marks on it.

Comments about Gibraltar Single Bass Drum Impact Pad:

This is the best single patch I've used. I beat this for a year and a half. Had to retire it recently. Not due to failure though, but because I bought a double pedal. It had a lot of life left in it. This patch did it's job, and did it so well. Good surface and great adhesive back. Don't let anyone tell you different.

Comments about Gibraltar Single Bass Drum Impact Pad:

If you're looking for a fat, wet, punchy, clicky bass drum sound, then your search is over. I have this on my 20x20 bass w/an Evans EMAD 2, and I use a wooden Iron Cobra beater, this sounds JUST like a triggered bass drum. Takes a little bit to get used to the bounce back of the beaters, but I've actually found its easier to do doubles and such with this on. Despite the negative comments about the adhesive, the thing is STUCK on my head, it won't come off even if I pull at it. Also, there IS a metal disc on the inside. GET IT!

We use this same impact pad on the kick drum at church....even unmiked you get a great tight sound. Sure beats the old days of duct tape holding a folded hankerchief.......

Comments about Gibraltar Single Bass Drum Impact Pad:

As far as the pad itself, the click is very defined and solid. My only grievance is that the adhesive on the back seemingly failed me. I have the darn thing held to my bass drum with duct tape, lol.I don't know what happened, really, but the point is this is probably the best click pad out there. At least single bass.
