Recapturing the magic of the original œPatent Applied For humbucker.

Slightly underwound, with medium "vintage" output, the BurstBucker Type 1 works well in both bridge and neck positions.
On the shop floor of the original Gibson plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the earliest Gibson "Patent Applied For" humbuckers were wound using imprecise machines, resulting in pickups with varying degrees of output and tone. The BurstBucker line of pickups represents Gibson's drive to recapture the magic of the original "Patent Applied For" humbuckers. First introduced in the early 1990s, the Gibson BurstBucker - Types 1, 2, and 3 - successfully captured the subtle variations of true, classic humbucker tone with historically "unmatched" bobbin windings and Alnico II magnets. They produce an airy, full tone, and when overdriven they achieve a magical distortion with the slightly enhanced highs that made the originals famous. BurstBucker Type 1 features a lower output, excellent for the neck position. BurstBucker Type 2 features medium output, and is perfect for both positions. BurstBucker Type 3 is overwound and hot, which is typically ideal for the bridge position. None of the BurstBuckers are wax potted, and all feature vintage braided two-conductor wiring.

Burstbucker 1 in neck of 2003 LP Standard

Comments about Gibson Burstbucker Type 1 Humbucker PickupDouble Black:

If ya want the tones of the late 50's LPs, then this is the pup for you. My LP came stock with BB Pros. The neck was much too 'muddy' for my liking so I tried the BB1. I'm glad I did. Great price, fast shipping and - the tones I can and DO remember form the late 1960's when I was working a Black Beauty! 'Woman Tone' happens with stock caps when paired up with BB Pro in bridge. My 41 years of performance experience using Gibson equipment gives this BB 1 a huge thumbs up!!
Stock Gibson parts (quality) have always been the best for me. Nothing shabby about it!
I won't tell you what I paid for it but I will continue to buy from MF

Comments about Gibson Burstbucker Type 1 Humbucker PickupDouble Black:

Exactly what i wanted for the Bridge of my old Studio. Most importantly, when i ordered it the first time they sent me a Pro by accident. Easy exchange eventhough I had to wait awhile for the new pickup to arrive. They did a great job of giving me weekly updates and were transparent with me on anticipated delivery date. No one likes to wait, but their customer service was outstanding
